no reads on UTG + 1; BB is a donkey who i took half a stack off when he potted K5526 3 times and i called down with QQ. So he clearly isn't "hand reading." I was snap calling him.

Call or fold?

I'd call and feel pretty good about it.

Fold quickly IMO. I don't think it's possible to rep more strength in a poker hand than UTG+1 is repping here.

lol so we have "fold quickly" and "call and feel good about it" - maybe we should talk about reasoning? do ppl really minraise utg with AA? I feel like they either raise big or limp, no?
03-30-2008 , 07:57 PM
nope, you have to call here, you see AK way more than KK+

Yes, people minraise UTG with AA all the time in my experience. You 3bet from EP, you look strong, BB even though he's an idiot probably knows enough that UTG minraise + EP 3bet means he should have a strong hand to shove here, UTG is shoving into you after you demonstrated tremendous strength and over BB who has demonstrated tremendous strength. And IMO people almost never minraise UTG with AK or JJ.

This is the ****. Sunday. Mulligan. Filled with donks. Who are looking to GAMBLE. They see chips go in the middle and can't help themselves. One of the softest field tourneys, especially early.

flat pre, call now
03-30-2008 , 08:38 PM
flat the minraise? are you high?
03-30-2008 , 08:40 PM
ya but look, it would be tight. bb might come along for a wild ride, shove anyway, then you look so fos
03-30-2008 , 08:44 PM
I'd call. kinda wish he had you covered though so if you lose the pot you dont have to play anymore .

ya i feel like this is never AK or JJ at all. His hand before the flop could be either total crap which he wanted to play lol or something very strong and since he reraised all in after the bb total crap is gone, alond with AK and JJ so your beating 10 10 which he never has so u have to FOLD and be happy about it.

QQ is probably the bottom of my calling range here... JJ is just an awful spot if UTG+1 has seen the donkey donk.
03-31-2008 , 06:02 AM
I think he shows up with AA or KK sometimes here but also hands like 77 and A 10 you see people getting crazy with here all the time. I think donks usually make AK 4timesbb in that spot. I would call because i think you will have him beat most of the time, unless you think he is a good player.
03-31-2008 , 06:46 AM
Call QQ+/AK.
03-31-2008 , 06:50 AM
Giving the donkey UTG+1 range to isolate is still huge IMO, I'll call.
03-31-2008 , 07:34 AM
I think this is really close. It depends upon how good / observant UTG+1 is but I pretty much agree with Todd Terry and would need KK or AA to call. I just think we are seeing KK or AA a lot in this spot from UTG+1 and maybe even the donk given he knows that everyone else knows he made a donk play. Perhaps I am giving the donk too much credit.
03-31-2008 , 08:23 AM
How quickly did UTG+1 shove? Do you think he knows that BB is a donkey?
03-31-2008 , 11:10 AM
I've had this situation happen to me several times recently, and every time an UTG or EP raiser min raised and shoved my 3 bet, they always showed up with KK or AA. Also, I really don't like when the initial raiser shoves over a 4 bet. I fold here.
03-31-2008 , 02:59 PM
ok thanks for responses everyone. i folded, BB had AQ and utg +1 had AK... seems like people are pretty split about what they'd do, leaning towards calling here.
03-31-2008 , 03:34 PM
i like the fold, fold ak too(qq has to have better equity than ak). obv call kk+.
