I mean it depends on how wide utg is opening and how wide he's jamming, but just because "we have enough chips to take a hit" doesn't mean it is anything but a disaster when we get in 5 million chips pre with 9 high

Who cares if we get 5-bet by viet, if so, he wins and we fold.
If UTG had less chips we wouldn't have to put in so many more if he shoves. If UTG had more chips we could 4bet/fold vs. him. UTG's stack size is literally the nut worst for NSB to do this. Which is very far from "pretty much perfect".

Also virtually clicking it back with air OOP vs. the 3bet of someone well known for calling too much preflop is really, really bad. Vietcong is never, ever folding. So your "bluff" is never succeeding preflop.

Would you hate it if I had tens, Todd?

Yes, late in tournaments is generally the time to apply pressure, I agree with that in theory. But you want to do it in such a way that you don't get stuck putting in 30% of your stack pre with dog****.
79 is not dog****!

This is why I suggested making it 2.8 or 2.9 mil. Yes, if UTG had more chips we could 4bet/fold, but he doesn't and we have NSB's read that he's opening pretty wide even UTG, so he folds more than enough to make this a decent spot to add some hands into our cold 4-balling range.

i think the biggest problem with this play, is that everyone involved in the hand knows you're nsb and knows you never have a hand here. this is a spot where if i have like AJs vs you (and i'm sure these 2 plaeyrs involved are thinking very close to this) i'm just getting it in vs you, and if you happen to wake up huge it' sjust a massive cooler.

it's sort of a good spot, and i'm sure they don't quite get it in as wide as a regular tourney just cause it's the mil, but the more i think about it the more i don't like it.

pretty sure i initially told you i said they'd fold a lot...but looking back i don't really like it

I heard about this hand and saw results and just don't love it cuz of what other ppl have said itt.. There are tons of rly good spots to **** on ppl deep in tourneys like this but for so many different reasons this just isn't one of them imo..
