last 5 players in live MTT, KK in the SB vs. button raise from veteran old school pro last 5 players in live MTT, KK in the SB vs. button raise from veteran old school pro

Live MTT, 750 pound ($1,200) buy-in. Last 5 runners out of just over 60 originally.

Blinds 2,000/4,000 with antes. I pick up KK in the small blind. Folded to button, a veteran old school pro who I have a good read on generally and may not be as strong technically as most of us on here.

He is chipleader with T170k. I have T110k before the hand starts.

He raises it to T11,500.

Choices are:
a) 3-bet him.

I had 3-bet him a few times the day before and he had folded each time. Haven't 3-bet him today yet though (they brought just the final table back) but could be down to it either being opened before it got to him or him folding with me to his left preflop.

b) Flat, and slowplay the flop

From what I know of the big blind to my left, I think this makes it likely the he feels priced in and calls. The big blind is capable of aggressive plays but I don't think he uses the squeeze play much, otherwise I'd consider flatting to induce the squeeze play.

I know that the button likes to fire one barrel post-flop as a bluff but I think he's incapable of bluffing on more than one street.

With all that in consideration, I decided to 3-bet. Big blind folds. Button folds.

Did I miss value, or was this OK?

3bet really small. Live pros like the flatcall.

Payouts just like most MTTs, skewed to top 3.

I 3-bet really small (if min-raise is 2x his open, I made it like 2.2x),

He went into the tank then folded and wonder if that little bet to the live pro screams so much strength and tipped him off to my hand.

Or maybe he really had nothing and I shouldn't beat myself up over it.

although i have no problem with what gobbo said above cuz most live players will just see how big the pot is and how cheap it is for them to call w/out regard to stack sizes etc.,if i hadnt been active 3 betting at the ft, i would be more inclined to just call with this stack.who knows maybe bb gets out of line here if u flat.

I prefer making it 26k or something, puts your hand a bit face up and might be hard to balance but there is not very much he can do about it.

I dont think shoving is that bad of a play either.

3b small is def good but this seems like a great spot to slowplay, that gets my vote. Just make sure to c/r all but the safest flops since he's not multi-barrel bluffing.

I like the slowplay here too, espacially against a straightforward player who like to Cbet...

I think he really plays that way, thinking he can outplay anyone, but it is pretty funny as advice to beginners.

Don't think Gavin Smith plays old school at all. Just because someone doesn't play Internet style doesn't mean he is old school.

Who is the button? I might make a weird play like min3bet and shove any flop depending on how he views you. I don't much like the idea of having a 3-way pot with the worst absolute and relative position with some play left, even if we are committing on ~80% of flops.
