This is the Stars 215r, 69 left, pays 36, average is ~22k. I thought this was a fist pump iso, so was surprised to hear two good MTTers disagree.

Looks like it's the bottom of the Nash Range for cEV. Dunno how close to NE Kirby shoves so I can't really comment. Definitely never a fist pump and probably a bigger error when you're wrong than it is a winner when you're right.

i think its also just a clear way to bust on a at best close to neutral EV when he can probably find a ton of easy +ev spots in the next dozens of hands

Looking at the villains behind and stack sizes, I really disagree that hero can find a "ton of easy +EV spots." We're not all Kirbynator, some of us have to take every thin edge we get!

With this stack size as a default, I expect good regulars to be shoving looser than NE which will definitely be good versus unknowns, though obviously at this table loosening up isn't going to be as beneficial.

ty, I thought those ranges looked a little tight.

Fixed one, if I entered it right.

open shoves/resteals in a lot of spots seem way more ev+ than putting it in with 5x5x/0 fold equity and 4 guys behind, imo

it's slightly -ev
08-02-2010 , 12:23 AM
i don't get it

If I were in Scary T's spot, I'm getting in and never looking back. I'm shocked that there are such good players saying fold. In a higher stakes tournaments with these villains, I'm assuming that I don't really have an edge over my opponents and I take every spot I can get.

I say NH Scary T. Any pair is good for me here. I don't know if I would shove as wide as the 17.6% chart you linked, but I'm still liking a really wide iso.
Flame away...

Just to be clear, the 17.6% is for jamming when folded to, the NE link is isoing at 10%.

Also I wasn't the Hero in my OP, but definitely would've played the same as our mystery man.

wasnt the bb sitting out?

Yeah, but we're pretending we didn't notice for sake of discussion.

Yeah i wasn't reading that correctly. Imma ******. Yes, 10% sounds much more reasonable. I suppose I would hesitate to jam the lowest pairs.

good cause I also didn't notice that :O

anyway I've done no math or anything, but my instinct is its a fold
08-02-2010 , 01:45 AM
if bb is sitting out its +ev
08-02-2010 , 02:03 AM
close but I wouldn't fold with 21bbs
08-02-2010 , 02:26 AM
I woulda made a close fold in game but now think close iso

Good op
08-02-2010 , 02:32 AM
I'm in the fold and feel good about it camp, although I iso from btn or blinds for sure.
08-02-2010 , 03:22 AM
Wow great spot, seems really close. Given how difficult I understand this tournament to be, I don't think most players should pass it up even if it is soooo marginally +cEV. Like in the dink stakes I play I would fold because I know I can get better spots but it'll just be so much tougher here (though I'm not familiar with the few guys to the immediate left of Hero, I'll just assume they are good and at least one is a superstar).
08-02-2010 , 04:00 AM
if this as close as everyone is saying I am terrible

is it possible we can go wider than equilib bec people will overcall poorly?
