FT of WPN 100K GTD (5) FT of WPN 100K GTD (5)

Here's a hand I played at the FT of WPN's $215 100K GTD a few weeks ago that I'd like some feedback on. Villain has LAG stats over 188 hands (32/22/9.8) but had been 3 betting more, specifically 3 betting me more, during this Final Table. His C bet stat was an overall 50%, but he had bet every time (or almost every time) at this FT. Me, Villain and Chip Leader had been battling it out for chip lead the whole time as well (he had recently lost a pot that brought him down to his current stack.)

So I called the 3 Bet getting more than 3-1 knowing that he could be 3 betting pretty light, but i do think he was going to jam AK, AQ and probably even AJ and maybe AT. I'm not as sure he's going to jam AA and KK, as I think he would want to get value off of them. Note that I hadn't actually seen him jamming that part of his range at this final table, but his stack size was appropriate for it and I saw him as competent enough to want to jam those hands.

My point is I don't think his 3 betting range has me dominated very often as I'm basically dominated by KQ and KJs (if he can even find a 3 bet there) and considering stack sizes in relation to the chip stacks, if he followed the same route of C betting a half pot sized bet, he'd be putting in half his remaining stack to C bet on the flop, and that I could GII if I hit the flop and easily fold if I don't.

Anyway, my plan worked, but the reason I wanted to discuss the hand is because my friend was arguing with me that by calling the 3 bet pre, I was setting myself up for disaster, and I was arguing that that was him being results oriented, and that most of the time Villain would R/F the flop or would slow down if I call on the flop, and that I'm not dominated often.

Thoughts on my preflop call? (Or any other thoughts for that matter?)

can't figure out if you think u have any FE pre...seem like shoving this would be a decent counter-strategy to villain's tendency to 3bet u a lot?

I probably do have fold equity, and I actually hadn't considered shoving as an option here. It makes some sense but I think his range is mainly Ax except AK AQ or AJ, along with a bunch of medium pairs (say 55-QQ,) plus KQ and a few other hands I would probably have more trouble predicting (suited connectors, etc.)

Obviously I don't have an exact read on his range and I didn't think of shoving in that spot. Even if I had thought of that I'm still thinking taking it to a flop is better, but I'm kind of tired after a pretty tilting session right now so I can't really think straight.

I think you played it fine. If we shove pre, villain will only have to call 425K into 1.14MM, and he's probably not 3-betting super light with the big stack still waiting in the BB. There's also a decent chance that he'll be on tilt and call spots that are close even if he knows he doesn't quite have the right equity. You've got a very good hand to take a flop with, and the stacks are good for you on the flop in that you can shove over any C-bet pretty easy and being OOP doesn't hurt you since he's just gonna C-bet almost every flop anyway giving you the option to be the one to put him to the decision.

Close between taking a flop and shoving imo

    Jamming it is rly nice
Actually if he's getting out of line 3b. You can rly icm *** him by jamming he can't rly call off with anything w the shorties in there

Make him make mistakes by jamming pre.
    Hurts him icm wise.

Calling pre with QJs vs a laggy 3bettor is perfectly fine, your friend is a nit

Jam, with all this fold equity, 2 sjhorties
