shove pre unless bb is shoves a wider range of hands than he calls a shove with, then raise and snap a shove

openshove first time around, never r/f this even with ICM. Call

Don't agree with never r/f with 15xBB. However, don't r/f 3xBB with a good hand. Push is better with this hand and situation. You have to call the reraise, as you are close to villain's range with huge pot odds.

Not to be excessively active in my own thread, but I have a few questions that other people might also like to see answered!

People are advocating an ICM fold against two people with JJ, but not one with 55?

What does open-shoving get us that raise/calling doesn't?

What are we value-shoving with 15 big blinds left? Tighter than raise-call?

At what point would an open-shove be excessive? With 30 big blinds? 20?

You're shortest stack (or close enough to it), you will be even shorter if you fold here. There's also a much bigger pay jump from 3rd to 2nd in general than 5th to 4th as well. Get it in, win race, position yourself best to win the tourney.

it gets us out of a crappy decision when the bb shoves and we don't really care to induce a shove with weaker holdings that might not call a shove such as KJ, QJ, A6 (as well as A5-A2), etc.

we kind of are shoving 55 for value though since it's by far the most optimal play. We can shove A10 and other marginal holdings that are still ahead of a calling range as well. Some people raise/call bigger hands here; some balance it out. Depends on the calling frequencies of the blinds.
At what point would an open-shove be excessive? With 30 big blinds? 20? with 55, something around 25-30ish here until it becomes exploitable.

Thanks!

One last thing: I don't think I understand the concept of 'exploitable play' very well, though. Is it that he can raise us off marginal holdings when we choose not to open-shove, and that folding money is always bad?
