Hello,

villain is a good reg. We are both deep, more than 50 bb.
I knew before i d probably have to face a three bet. Then he owned me.
Whats ur line here with a good hand (SB vs BB) but which doesnt flop well.
Maybe 4 bet fold?

Thanks

Calling the 3 bet here is tough OOP, but fine if you have a plan for missing. Either rep the 7, or the clubs, or check-fold. You obviously dont want to raise/fold the A9 suited pre, but turning it into a bluff and risking your tournament against the table chip-leader when you're 2nd in chips at the table is spewy at best.

I think raising pre was standard and fine, but against tricky players, you can play small ball and limp-call, or you can limp re-raise and regain the initiative. He'd have to be fairly maniacal to 4 bet your limp 3 bet in this spot pre without a solid holding, and now you can rep a super strong hand and take down most flops if he decided to flat the 4 bet.

Also, you'll miss most flops obviously, and A9 spades calling down on 77J clcl out of position is flying blind looking for disaster.

if you know that he is 3betting more often than needed, start limping your whole range and go from there. As played, it's pretty standard, you can fold flop too.
