I'm assuming CO can be plenty wide here based on his play.
BTN has been playing solid TAG game throughout the tourney thus far.

5 folds, CO raises to t400, BTN raises to t4463 all in, Hero ???

Unless I math-failed, I need 45.8% to call...

Giving him a pretty tight resteal range

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 46.862% 46.16% 00.70% 78257586 1181770.00 { 9c9h }
Hand 1: 53.138% 52.44% 00.70% 88896970 1181770.00 { 77+, ATs+, KQs, AJo+ }

which is pretty close. Way too tight of a range for him? Originally I had him down to 55+ and ATo+ and it was about 51%...

Also, how do I factor in the times CO has a hand?

Thanks!

fold.

you still have to worry about CO and he has you covered.

you have tons of blinds.

your hand is super vulnerable.

pick a better spot.

But I do know that positionally both guys are at their widest ranges.

looks like trival shove

OP, to figure out how much CO being there hurts you, estimate his calling range (say JJ+/AK which is 3% of hands) and opening range (say 25%). So then he calls 12% of the time, figure out your equity in both the 3way main and 2way side pot, calculate ev. Then do .88*(EV when CO folds)+.12*(EV when CO calls). There may be a faster way but that's how I'd do it.

thanks stevepa... I kinda thought something along those lines but that makes more sense.

so if 99 / AQ is what i'm getting it in with then my assumed range for BTN was decent?

In my opinion, this is one of those borderline spots where you can't really go wrong. When these situations come up, I usually base my decision around other factors like talent at the table, how passively people are to your left/ how aggressive people are to your righ, etc. If it's a tough table or you feel like you'd do relatively better with a bigger stack at this point, then go for it, realizing you're not going to be a huge favorite most of the time.

pretty sure this is a fold

Yeah I think I fold here due to pre antes, and having no reads on the shoving player.

If he had even remotely ******ed stats i'd go with it, but just don't see people shoving here wide enough. Then there is factor of CO as well.

I'm sure it's a math problem that can be solved, but in game without more information than youve given I think folding is just fine

pre-ante fold imo
with antes ez shove.
08-26-2010 , 11:53 AM
Not that it's interesting results-wise, but I folded.

My fold was because I did have a read (mentioned above) of the shove coming from a pretty nitty player. He hadn't ever really gotten out of line the whole tourney and seemed solid so I wasn't sure how wide he would do this.

For those of you saying 'no antes, fold' is it more because you think I'm not getting enough overlay for my equity vs. his range or because you think they are so much tighter since it's pre antes that I'm in that much more trouble getting it in w/ 99 here?
08-26-2010 , 01:25 PM
mix of both

It's really ridiculous that we'd pretty much all agree 88 is an easy fold and TT is a fistpump get it in, and 99 is close. And we're right. Just kind of scary how much basic $#@! is intuitive to all of us. Edges are SMALL
08-26-2010 , 11:12 PM
Pretty easy fold imo, antes this becomes a call
08-27-2010 , 03:32 PM
I shove even if btn is tight he should have most pp's in his range
