25K hand 25K hand

04-21-2008 , 05:14 PM
blinds 50-100 stacks all close to 50K

EP raises to 300
I call from CO with 77
button and both blinds call

pot 1500 flop 679 rainbow.
blinds check and UTG bets 700
I have yet to act and the button raises to 3000
I make a speech about it being awkward situation and decide to call saying "lets see if you still want to stick that 3K in there"....he did
Blinds and UTG fold and I call.

pot 8200 turn 2
I check and he bets 6025
I call

pot 22250 river 8
check check
villain tables 76 and I win a decent pot but cant help but feel I missed value somewhere

Good line or should I have done something differently?

I don't see any other way to play it really, especially with that river card.

why arent we raising the turn here? assuming we arent folding which i dont think there is any reason to do.

seems like a perfect turn to donk bet and let him stack you.

as played i put a post oak bet in there on the river (500-2k ish)

I play in too many damn casinos to remember, but isn't he obligated to raise if you just call on the flop? As to what you should have done differently, don't give the speech, I think you're absolutely turning your hand faceup (as a set) by giving the speech, calling, and then calling the raise OTF. Which also really screws up the dynamic of the hand -- if the guy's perceptive, he should only be betting hands on the turn that beat a set (which since you have 77 means he should only be betting 99, T8), unless he's turning his hand into a bluff to try to get you to fold a set because he believes that you believe that he knows you have one, which I think is highly unlikely, in which case given the speech the turn is close to a fold.

Do NOT give these asses free info as per your flop speech, you are practically telling Villain you are not MADE yet.

as played and ended you sir are a genius (albeit unknown to yourself).....

looks exactly like a 10/20 hand from Bellagio last week where I got it all in on turn and Villain calls 200bb deep with the ass end of the str8, let us know how you get your drawy flop sets to hold up !
