Thremp,

1. I enlighten you and let you know that people who actually know and enjoy good food often prefer ribeye over filet and thighs over breast.

2. You refer to people with those preferences as idiots.

3. I point out that you are obviously a total noob when it comes to knowing and enjoying good food if you think that preference is idiotic.

Normally, that would be pretty much as far as we could get arguing on a subjective matter re: food taste.

However, it so happens that a similar argument was going on in this very forum at the same time - and YOU YOURSELF proposed a way to settle this argument.

4. So I proposed that we use the wager that YOU CREATED to settle this argument of a similar nature.

At this point, you probably asked some people who actually know something about good food and were informed that your opinion was indeed that of a super noob. But you're too ashamed to admit that you actually know nothing about good food except maybe reading something somewhere on the Internet that said "filet is the most expensive and best steak!" So you resort to handwaving and try to make this about semantics.

The facts of the matter, however, are that points 1-4 above are all that really matters in the context of this wager. Do you dispute any of those points? If not, and you actually believe what you said and are willing to stand behind it, we should have a wager.

Unless, of course, you believe that when it comes to matters of opinion re: good food, that Michelin 2-star plus chefs are in fact idiots. But if you believed that, why would you specifically select that group of idiots to settle the hot sauce bet?

So, what is it, Thremp? Were you talking out of your ass and actually know little to nothing about good food, or did you for some reason decide that the best people to judge the hot sauce opinion was a group of people with idiotic food preferences?

In before Thremp says something about El Diablo strawmanning and/or hand waving and/or goal post shifting.

like thremp has ever given up a argument. He's the typical internet argumentative type who never ever gives up even if going against a super smart guy who is known to clown on people who do this to him.

But no he refuses to give up. A bit impressive!

gogo El D =)

This is the bastion of the e-troll. ElD has mastered these arts. In case you didn't see those post I made which he skillfully doesn't address where he uses them all interchangeably.

They aren't interchangeable. A good dictionary should help clarify this.

While you're at it, you should probably check out "flavorful" and "preference". Might help you to be less trollish.
is this the complete reply/writeup???

Most of the "goalpost shifting" I've seen so far has been of the form of Thremp trying to make this into some kind of meeting of the "e-troll" minds, instead of "Thremp is getting owned pretty hard by El D", which is what appears to be going on.

you gotta understand, that's what it HAS TO BE in thremp's mind. he's that ****ed up i believe. but he's entertaining, much like a ****** trying to eat cotton candy or something. it's sad, but you laugh.

Unless I am completely missing something I think there is a ton of confirmation bias in people's assessment of who looks like more of an idiot in this confrontation.

While I may be missing some background, looking at this situation in a vacuum it is pretty LOL stupid to challenge someone to a prop bet based something so subjective and assume "foodies" or expert chefs have a more valid opinion of how someone should rate a sensation that everyone experiences then any other (biased or not) subset of the population.

This is tantamount to one man telling another man he is an idiot for not liking girls with big breasts and the other proposing a prop bet that some flat breasted supermodel would be rated higher then Kim Kardashion on appearance by a photographer by Vogue.

While Thremp may have done something similarly stupid in the past that doesn't make his arguments regarding goal post shifting, etc here any less valid here.

I find the idea of "underwater tunnels" terrifying and extremely dangerous.
If it's anything like the Warrior Dash (seems like it is) then it's not that tough. It's just for fun and everyone has a good time. The hardest parts of the Warrior Dash were running on grass/mud and going up hills+ the heat. Very few people took it seriously enough to try to win (and the person who won obv finished in a freakishly fast time).

PLEASE STOP WRITING ESSENTIALLY WHAT I WAS GOING TO WRITE IN MORE DETAIL LATER ON.

Thanks <3,

1. not liking girls with big breasts makes you an idiot.

2. rarely do you see a preference for Evangeline Lilly over Kim Kardashian.

two statements. one is a legitimate use of hyperbole to communicate an idea. the other is patently ridiculous and deserves to be mocked.

It's not hard for Diablo to always be right, because he picks his battles conservatively.

agreed but thremp has a much higher overall bulk record with his battles. he is more than willing to muck it up with the hope that no one else challenges his ramblings and they usually dont for varying reasons.

Yeah you will get a good amount of wins if you call everyone a idiot that ever has a opinion that differs from your twisted view of the world.

you make a fair point, but you are missing something. there was a recent hot sauce thread in which the exact same challenge was issued but by thremp in regards as to whether hot sauce is for peasants or not. if this was not the case i would completely agree with you, but its the fact the ElD is using Thremp's own challenge that makes this thread awesome.

*edit* its not like the distant past. thremp issued this challenge within the last 2 weeks. the challenge was still open as far as i could tell when ElD made his.

*edit 2* so to make things clear thremp either has to admit he was wrong in that thread, wrong in this thread, accept the challenge, or be super lame and implicitly admit he was wrong in both threads by saying nothing.

While I'm hungover, you do realize the downtown made a specific reference to chefs. ElD is using chefs as a proxy for foodies here. He's subtly and slowly goalpost shifting, which is an A+ trolling tactic. Its worked extremely well here. Furthermore the challenge he issued is ******ed because it is debatable if it'd even serve to answer the question posed. "Do you have a preference" is general to a chef. Do they like eating it? Do they like cooking it? Do they like finger blasting it?

How does this even serve to figure out if ElD knows a bunch of idiots?

Its pretty shocking that most of the people ITT don't understand this.
