It is not necessarily that interesting to cram something into a "disease" definition. In a loose definition lot of things can fit as a disease as the criteria for "disease" are (somewhat purposefully) broad; something that could cause pain or dysfunction.

But more specifically and in practice what it entails to classify something as a disease is that the condition in question would be subjected to pathological method. In most places of the world this means we would usually expect research to meet recognized academic criteria for method and treatment to meet certified legal criteria (performed by doctors/nurses etc).

So a disease-classification is in the loose end just a word-game and in the practical end more a academic clause with some potential legal/bureaucratic ramifications.

More importantly; in popular daily speech it is often just a negative buzzword which we often apply to things we don't like.
