Cookie,

Are there any regulations on the shirts sort of employing a hydraulic press?

Something like this would be good at first, eventually your going to need to get a harder version. In the beginning this will do the job.

Ran it for one week, kcal higher than normal, 12hr refeed at end.

Online calculator says 10.4% at 187 two days of normal eating later. Probably a little higher actually.

Next time I do this before Summer 2010, I'll have a better base and be pushing the BF% lower at the end.

how do football players do it?

i mean, they lift, they hit the hell out of each other, and they have to learn/practice the skills/nuances of a sport.

i lift 3 times a week for a couple hours at a time including long rests between sets and warmups. and i'm exhausted both after the workouts for an hour or two and in the mornings. i could not imagine going out into the field to play football of all things afterwards.

Your body adapts, and they eat a ton.

Finally got around to seeing Tyson last night, was really interesting and entertaining. Lot of good footage. I bring it up in H&F because since Tyson wasn't blessed with superior genetics or anything, he followed Rippetoe's guidelines strictly and got terrific results imo.
09-12-2009 , 04:31 PM
am i being levelled?

tyson didn't have gifted genetics?

he was full grown man at 17 years old with one of the most impressive backs in boxing that i've ever seen. He also had amazing hip torque for breaking ribs and ending consciousness.

---edit, yes, levelled, oh so smoothly. i'm sure tyson bulked with a gallon of whole milk a day though fwiw.

the docu was pretty good, i thought the director did about the worst he could with the material he was given though- a lot of it reminded me of some crappy college film project.

--------

pssst...guys, i haven't deadlifted in...a long long time. my knee isn't quite 100 percent but soon as it is i'll jump in here and tell you how i finally banged out 225x5 and be happy for some stupid reason.

feel free to laugh, i'll be back on the wagon shortly.

Lower intensity and volume.

Anybody have any experience with relatively painful leg cramping at night after squat/deadlift days? Foam roller ftw?

What's your potassium intake like? I always used to get foot cramps. Banana a day made them go away.
09-12-2009 , 04:51 PM
lack of magnesium?

Hmmm...according to Fitday my avg daily intake of Potassium is deficient and that is one of the few things I don't get from my Multi...I'll try switching my pre-workout carbs from pretzels to a banana, thanks.

i watched this last night, i do full body workouts though so i don't have an arm day to do all this stuff.

seems kinda cool tbh- as stupid and annoying as some of this stuff seems- it's neat that they're attempting to find different ways to activate muscles.

it's not the 10 commandments that SS is here, but it's definitely interesting- at least to me.

on two occasions since I've started lifting seriously I've woken up screaming from a calf-cramp...I doubt it has anything to do with the lifting though. Probably just dehydrated or something

Search bodyrecomposition. There is an article on cramping.

Mag, zinc, salt, potassium, calcium
09-12-2009 , 08:36 PM
it looks like a face is coming out of his belly.

that said, that's not particularly fair. if you've seen nike's new ad with adrian peterson then you've seen a SHREDDED football player that is probably in the gym year round.

that's a charlie horse. They suck. I get one every few months or so. Best way to quell the pain is to immediately press your leg into the floor, hard.

This x 100.

Last night I ate two cheese burgers a quarter pounder and the accompanying fries. ...but it's ok, I didn't drink the coke, instead I had 10 beers.

willie,

Agree about tyson doc. Completely disagree about "activating muscles."

so you think that CT and Waterburys work done in regards to speed reps in relation to CNS activity is pointless?

i think weightlifting is always going to evolve over time- the small parts of it at least. The basic building blocks will always be the foundation of strength.
If these guys are basing their programs around research findings then i think it's at least worth looking at kinda closely to see what they're up to. Almost all of their stuff is free on the site and if you're willing to read through their work and glance over the shilling for supplement sales then there is definitely good info to be found.
