I'm looking to spend about $100 on some new running shoes. Besides the ones that look cool I know know nothing about what I should be looking for.

Almost all good running shoes are discounted over the net. The trick is to find a way
to try them on. Read the reviews.

Saucony, New Balance and some other companies also make good running shoes.
Are you running on the pavement of the streets or a treadmill?
Do you plan to run high or low mileage? Buy more than one pair.
Your feet will love you for it. But one pair at a time. You must
run on them a few times before you can know if the model is
good for you.

You can probably go to a store for running shoes, bring your old shoes, and have someone give some recommendations based on that for a quick and dirty analysis. Buying the shoes there is up to you, but it'll obviously be cheaper over the internet.

I'm sure there is a world of running fora that will provide a ton of advice if you want to delve into that.

The answer to this is entirely dependent on your physiology, running style, running goals, and about a thousand other variables.

Go to a real running store (i.e. not a Foot Locker or generic big box sporting goods store), preferably one owned/staffed by runners and equipped with a treadmill. Just by looking at your feet, watching you run a little bit and quizzing you on what kind of running you're planning on doing, they should be able to narrow down your choices to 3-4 or so. Once you get to that point just choose whatever feels the most comfortable on your feet.

I'm an under pronator (balance feels like its on the lateral part of my foot all the time), is this weird or rare?

Any recommendations/tips/things I should know when I go to buy some shoes?

New Balance makes good not too expensive shoes.

I mean they're running shoes and as long as they're comfortable that's all I care about.

Of course, if you can get some flashy tacky running shoes, that's always the better choice.

Is there any way to buy discontinued styles of running shoes? I found some old Asics 1060's online a few months ago, but I can't find them anymore. They were the most comfortable running shoes I've ever had. I still miss them.
