I have very limited internet access due to the move. I get it hooked up next week.

On Saturday I moved for several hours and wore myself out. I was quite sore on Sunday and opted to take the day off. Monday I joined a gym near our new house and did 5 miles on the treadmill. Tuesday I did 3 miles on the treadmill and was able to job the whole way at a 5mph rate. Today I did an elliptical machine for 45 minutes.

Overall, I am feeling good. My weight is currently 275 although I know it is high variance, especially with the scale I am using that is not terribly accurate. I am planning similar workouts tomorrow and Friday and then going to try for a 7 mile distance on Saturday.

Thursday: 3 mile street run/walk - 39 minutes
Friday: shins were starting to hurt after Friday, took day off to rest up for Saturday
Saturday: 7 mile dirt track walk/run - 97 minutes
Sunday: rested
Monday: 4 mile treadmill walk/run - 54 minutes
Today: 1 hour on elliptical

I felt really good about last Saturday as I was able to maintain a faster pace than what I will need to complete the marathon in 7 hours and completed over a quarter of the marathon distance. I think I am going to limit myself to one outdoor run a week right now to keep the impact to my shins and knees minimized. I plan to use the treadmill or another gym machine tomorrow, Thursday and Friday and then to go for an 8 mile outdoor distance on Saturday.

My weight this morning was 273.

if i were you i would simply forget about the marathon and start eating correctly. Log your food here, stop eating any junk food whatsoever and do not drink any calories.

Wednesday: 4 mile treadmill took 50 minutes
Thurday: 3 mile treadmill at 5 degree incline, 49 minutes. I also had a "fitness assessment" at the gym on Thursday and they had me doing lunges and things to test my muscle strength. I guess it is not very good and I hurt in many places on Friday.
Friday: rested
Today: 8.2 mile outdoor run (dirt surface) took 109 minutes.

I've been sick for about 3 weeks which has been a challenge. The initial illness lasted forever and just as I was feeling better I seem to have gotten something else. This is unusual for me as I have hardly gotten sick at all since I quit smoking a few years ago.

I have been exercising every other day or so but have only done one long run since my last post, which was 9 miles and took 115 minutes. Yesterday I finished 5 miles in under an hour for the first time. I weighed 268 this morning.

I have some pain in my left shin and a little in my right knee so am going to focus more on the elliptical machine, incline walks and strength training for the rest of the week. My plan is to not run again until Saturday, when I will attempt some kind of longer run depending how the shin feels.

We called the bet off a while ago and I decided not to do the marathon. I am still doing a half marathon and it is on Sunday. My exercising has been poor the past few weeks, unfortunately. My diet has also been poor and I am currently around 270 pounds.

I have a small bet versus my friend that I can get under 2:40 vs. him getting under 2:00. I am not too confident as I did 7 miles on the treadmill a couple days ago and was going around a 2:42 pace and ended very tired. Still, game day adrenalin is a factor and I think I run more efficiently outside.

Congrats on walking half a marathon. Did you lose anymore weight after dropping down to 270lbs from 280lbs? Or did the cheeseburgers get the best of you? Even though you puss'd out of your bet, Gl on your future endeavors OP.
