I like how you're thinking.

Solid thought process.

Lower back injury inquiry:

Hurt my back on my DL warmup set (70 % of workset = fail) 3 days ago. For some idiotic reason I was trying to really control the descent of the bar and probably wasn't paying enough attention and must've let my lower back round. Felt a sharpish pain, contemplated about doing my workset for a few mins but decided to play it safe.

That same night I felt a little pain when I bent over and it was a PITA to put my shoes on. The following day I felt clearly better and yesterday even more so. Today I'm probably at about 90 % flexibilty and feel no pain, although I have this vague feeling every now and again that my lower back isn't 100 % right (can't really call it pain, w/e).

I'm skipping anything that involves the lower back today (on GSLP) but thought about getting back to it on Thursday. Is it ok if I continue from where I left off (obv stopping if there's any pain whatsoever)? Any additional advice? I'm also seeing a doctor in 6 days about another issue so I can ask him to check this out. Anything specific I should keep in mind (realising that he's a GP and probably won't know anything about weightlifting)?

P.S. I hurt my lower back about 7 months ago doing squats, although that time it was a bit worse and the pain was tougher. Didn't herniate a disc, just took 1 whole week off and slowly worked my way back again. That time it was also a sharp pain from nowhere and after that 1 week of rest I never felt any pain again until 3 days ago.

I went way too tl;dr

As a fat guy, I never thought I'd get fat guy trolled, but I totally did. So I'm in the gym setting up my deadlifts after benching my weak ass 130. Three fat dudes walk in. LIKE FAT one guy the only one who looks like he might have stepped foot in a gym in the last year was like 275 and the other two were 350 easy. Anyway I notice they put 225 on the bar and get ready to bench. I almost stop to pull out my phone to witness someones trachea getting smashed and the 275er bangs it out like it was a 45lb warmup. I did my gay deadlifts and went home. I'm so mad about having no fat guy upper body strength.

You likely need to address your control over your lower back muscles, and also probably your mobility in your hips/ glute and hamstring flexibility. I'll let Cha chime in with some recommended resources.

Just keep in mind that this is not a muscle belly injury. Returning to lifting sooner will not accelerate recovery, and you will always be more prone to re injuring your back in this same spot.

I entered "weights" into my local Craigslist sporting goods search and this is the first thing that popped up:

But these are "executive dumbells" and are only $10. So beat that.

Concrete-filled dumbbells are very rare and exclusive, nice find

Watch that and pay close attention to what he says so you dont misinterpret it.

These two books have the best, most correct info on low back problems:

Read LBD 1st - it has lots of info the UB builds on.

edit - There are lots of good, free links on this page: http://www.backfitpro.com/articles.php

yeah, thinking 225 is an amount of weight that would crush a 275lb man's trachea is a huge beat.

Thanks a ton for this info - I might've been a bit too eager. I'm gonna order those 2 books but a quick google search didn't reveal any euro sellers so it's gonna take a few weeks to get them [EDIT: amazon.co.uk to the rescue - might get them faster]. In the meantime, is there something else you'd recommend I read so I know what to do right now? Assuming squatting, deadlifting and pressing is out of the question, will doing chins, curls and benching be ok (on GSLP)? Could you (DFII) be more specific with what rehabbing implies (I assume I'll know once I get the books)?

The mobility issue is definitely something I need to work on but I never did due to no considering it that important. I'm not very flexible anywhere and have noticeable APT - Is A&C the thing I should buy (I have MM)?

Again, greatly appreciate your advice.
