Well my knees click a lot during warmups and I've previously injured my left knee. I don't think the previous injury is relevant however. Overall they the knees just feel rough when I'm squatting, and I wondered if there was anything I could do. Then I read this article on the SS site:

http://startingstrength.com/articles...ear_gibson.pdf

Where at the end of page 2 he talking about knee compression.

and Mike Robertson's article on knee health:

http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_a...E1E61-hf.hydra

where 'buy some knee sleeves' is top of his list of suggestions.

Browsing a few forums, the general consensus from people who have bought knee sleeves and reports back on their findings is very positive.

This article contains some convincing reasons to use wraps, belts, etc.

Put them on inside out up to the bottom of the knee, then pull the bottom of the sleeve and flip them over right side = No hair pulling.

Prophet and Halfslant, good read.

I bought some of these sleves a couple of years ago for snowboarding (and am using one on my bad knee for squatting right now):

Will they do the trick or do I have to some bands specifically designed for squatting etc.?

Sorry about the large pic....

Read the book/watch the DVD again. Personally I like Dave Tate's set-up a bit better, easier to get a good arch (but also easy to let the butt slide off the bench). Youtube dave tate 9 week bench or sth.

Proceed to add 5kg next time (in 2/3 workouts' time)?
Extension doesn't look particularly bad to me. I'd add the 5 kgs.

Hardgrove, those should be fine. If there is compression and they increase the temperature of your knee then that's the job done.

Am I the only one who lifts in sweat pants? They seem to do two things for me: keep the legs warm, and protect the shins a bit during deadlifts.

I do a lot more in fall, winter, and spring months, but will occasionally in the summer too.

I'm currently 27 and started squatting and deadlifting about 2.5 yrs ago. about 2 years ago I pulled a hamstring running to first playing softball a few hours after a heavy DL/squat session. 10 days ago I pulled a quad running to first playing softball (bad, bruising, could barely walk next few days). i had never pulled a leg muscle in my life before. what am i doing wrong? what kind of stretching routines do people have and how important is it?

Me sometimes. Mainly because I have a scab on my shin that hasn't healed for like 3 months. I keep opening it up everytime I clean and DL. I really should use the plastic bottle trick but too disorganised.

Is a single leg glute ham raise from the floor humanly possible? Anyone seen it done? I can't even do a double leg GHR from the floor, they are brutal.

Special bonus video.

This girl has stronger hamstrings than me. God I suck.

If I want to learn more about nutrition(especially when related to weight training, and how to eat when trying to gain/lose weight) what resources do you guys recommend(books, articles, threads, movies etc).

May be a fairly vague request, but I have lots of time and although I feel like intuitively I have a reasonable idea of what I should be eating, I would like to learn more.

So did powercleans yesterday, my right wrist is a little sore.... is that bad?

(first day of doing 3x5, did 3x3 the previous powerclean day) *also I don't have bumper plates so I don't drop the weight.

(Main problems with my form are starting my jump too early and I can't get my elbows up much - not flexible)

sounds like you are catching/supporting the weight with your forearms, not shoulders. I have inflexible wrists as well, and my elbows would always point towards the ground when attempting to rack the bar on my shoulders.

I have never been in a gym where I have had the need to keep my legs warm.

I'm guessing you are under 40 and also don't work out in a cool basement.

^^^^ yep, i almost feel like my forearms are just slightly longer than normal or something too.

Should I continue to do powercleans and work on flexibility or omit them and replace them with something else?

(I do like powercleans fun exercise, a set of 5 always leaves me winded)

also went down to the lake and off a rope swing today, couldn't definitely tell me forearms were swore as well.
