I'm in the gym lifting. Some trainer who is strong like bull does a 500lbs squat like 3-4 inches above parallel and asks me if he went deep enough. I didn't have the heart to tell him. Do I burn in hell?

Just cleaned out my garage and set up my bench with room to deadlift. Now all I need are squat stands, or alternatively, not be lazy and order the correct bolts for my power rack I've had for about a year without assembling it.

Tied some resistance bands to some poles and with my wrist weights in there, it's a nice little setup. There's a dresser in the garage and a bunch of other crap taking up room, but it's enough to get the job done on the weekends (my gym closes at 8 PM).

Hey,

with winter coming, I am in a similar situation. I still want to be able to train at home lots of days, but I'm going to focus more on drilling form on the porch in warm clothing, and doing my heavy lifting in my garage when I can't make it to the gym.

So, I need a power rack and a bench for rack pulls and squats and safety for the bench. I don't feel comfortable back squatting or low-bar squatting or doing goodmornings or bench presses without a rack, my squat stand just wouldn't cut it.

Any ideas? I probably wouldn't be loading it with more than 600 pounds, but if I went heavier in the future I might need it to be able to hold more.

I might get a db set too! Will see what I could do with the garage or basement.

Jihad,

yeah dude is a major sicko. Imagine deadlifting 10 pounds over the equipped world record for your age division, for 3 reps, raw. And not doing a competition.

random Q I didn't know you're name was Tom- do u have a name on tnation?

Jeff,

I can't even imagine what you look like now. The last time I ran into you was at GP: Oakland, I think. Anyway...

I bought my power rack from bodybuilding.com and was reasonably happy with it, except that it came with the wrong bolt set so it was impossible to put together. I have to contact the manufacturer and get a new set but it's been like 1.5 years. I am lazy.

As for other equipment, I just searched Craigslist and found a few sellers who had dumbbells (a really nice pair of 25 lb. ones plus a few adjustable ones with 200 lb worth of plates), a bench + bar, and a full squat bar and plates. I ended up spending like $175 on all the used equipment plus $200 for a brand new squat rack that in retrospect I wish I had bought used. Throw in $50 for wrist weights, resistance bands of varying tensile strength, and a quality jump rope, and you have a good setup for your garage to do most anything. Like I said, I still need squat stands, but I think I could even make those out of copper piping from Home Depot. Plans gotta be on the Internet somewhere.

QFPosterity.

Guys, if you're a coffee junkie like me, next time you're at Starbucks make sure to try their new (don't know how new) oatmeal to go thing. I had mine with 2 splendas and some nuts, and it really was perfect. They also have little packets of Almond Butter, which is awesome and something I've never seen before at any restaurant.

Cookie, have you met her? Does her penis look pretty?

i kind of need some help/ advice

i'm trying to work my legs once a week while giving my back time to heel (tweaked it squatting about 1.5 months ago)

Here's the problem, after i tweaked it i only did cardio for about 3 weeks with relatively basic weight work in between (bench, row, dip, pullup etc)

i laid off my legs completely but was running about 5x a week

the last 2 times i've worked my legs out, i've gotten the worst DOMS ever. I'll do legs on friday and i'll hurt until at LEAST wednesday. I don't mean slight discomfort either- it's like i've strained my qauds both times i've done the workout. It kind of reminds me of the pain you get when you first go back to the gym after a layoff and overdo it. But it keeps recurring. An idea of how i feel is that today is monday, and i can't go down stairs very well at all, getting into and out of my car is a teeth gritting pain, sitting on the toilet etc etc. it absolutely blows.

The workout only 5x5 db lunges (10 reps total in a set) and 3x8 db deadlifts.

i stretch before and after workout. I also do 5:00 minutes on the elliptical before stretching to get blood moving and legs loose.

It's possible i'm not drinking enough water, what else could help this situation?

Go lighter. Do more active recovery.

lighter + lower volume + higher frequency (every other day) for a little bit I would guess. Add a little weight each workout, keep volume low/moderate and with the frequent ramping up of weights, you'll be at your old work set weights soon enough.

Eating everything in sight is both fun and tough

I'm currently downing 2k calories a day just in whole wheat pasta, lean ground beef, and tomato sauce.

This does not include breakfast, dinner, or my PWO.

Is anyone else insulted when you're asked: Do you work out?

OF COURSE I ****ING WORK OUT YOU STUPID ****... Well that is how I feel.
