I know this has been discussed before but I don't feel that any of the solutions are really working - eating more and getting consistent exercise.

I currently consume around ~2500/cals a day and workout/play bball/exercise at least 2-3X a week. However, I constantly feel tired.

I tried sleeping for like 10 hours a day, that didn't really help. I tried sleeping for the recommended 8 then taking a short nap during the day but that didn't really help either.

What can I do to have great energy throughout the entire day from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep? I want to be able to feel great all day everyday.

Advice?

Get out of bed when you're no longer sleepy. Doesn't matter if you've slept only five hours.

What else is going on? Lots of stress? Depression? Eat lots of sugary stuff? Drink too little water? Boozing? Drugs? Work or go to school in a building with no air circulation? Dog licking your feet or noisy neighborhood at night disrupting your sleep? Goblins crawl out of your nose at night and drag pizza crusts in before dawn?

Sunlight. Bright light.

Also grow a beard and carry around a bottle of olive oil in a brown paper bag.

Not sure exactly what your goals are but 2500 kcals a day is not a lot for someone who exercises frequently, especially if your goal is to gain (muscle) mass. This could be the reason why you are always feeling tired and/or poor selection of food in your diet.

what I meant to say was that I used to take in 2.5 cals/day, now it's probably around 3-3.5k although this isn't very consistent.

and my diet isn't very good but not that bad either - I am a college student so I eat on campus a lot - pasta, burgers, pizza, chinese food, etc.

How is the above "not that bad"? I'm not sure what your standards are, but that last bit really threw me.

You're right. By college standards, I stand corrected.

Get blood work done. This could absolutely be a thyroid issue, which is easily corrected.

i have no clue what 'getting blood work done' is either. seems like a reasonable question, and a too eager attempt at overusing the funny pic.

never seen it before to be honest, just thought it was funny because he basically asked the same thing that was already said.

also, I think it's the diet. eat more whole foods (fruits+veggies especially), drink more water, take a multivitamin, and I think you'll be fine. I'd certainly try that before going to a doctor or getting blood work done.

Hard core cardio mon - fri

Eat protein + veg. or carb. + veg. no protein + carb.

Sigh, I'm fairly certain that it's a pretty common term. It means to go to the doctor and have them run a range of tests. Have you never watched tv? Or gone to the doctor?

Go to the doctor, get your blood work done, see how your thyroid numbers come back. For someone with reasonable diet and exercise habits, you shouldn't feel tired all the time, and an out-of-range thyroid is a candidate. It's a fast, cheap fix, and it's the only one that will really do the job if that's the root cause.
