I assume that's what is meant by cardiac drift? loco can probably explain it better than I can.

K enough.

LD26 (UT2) - 50'

r2299m (10' warmup)

Stuck with a more gradual increase and my HR was a lot better; probably just going to stick with this type of UT2 for a while and see if it helps with fatigue management.

I'm certainly feeling the freshest I've felt in a while after taking it a little easier on my two UT2s this week. only a week but...may be onto something!

just had a look at your graph and there's a weird drop in hr in your penultimate split. did you stop for a drink or sth?

Nah, rowed all the way through; no idea what happened, so I assume it's just an error from the strap. I'm driving to my parents' house for Thanksgiving on Tuesday, so I'll do a semi-long UT2 tomorrow (70-80' total depending on how I feel), then I'll be off until I get back Sunday (which conveniently enough will be a 90', so at least I'll be rested).

What about some cross training during these 4days? Maybe a turkey trot 5k on Thursday.

Don't think we'd have the space plus the wife would not be amused.

It's actually only three full non-travel days - Tuesday and Saturday are full days of driving, and there's enough other stuff going on that I think a few days of rest won't be a problem. Maybe if I wake up early Tuesday morning I'll rip off an early 30' row, but I'm not going to stress about it. This is only my second time seeing my parents in two years (they are super careful about covid), so I'm going to try to make it count.

I know, and they know, but they're still ultra-risk averse. What can you do.

LD27 (UT2) - 60'

Another good one; felt strong.

Didn't feel great today; I'm assuming 20+ hours of driving and lots of drinking over the last five days might have something to do with it. Had 90' programmed but didn't really feel like gutting out the last 10'.

This piece continues to really suck; kept things a bit better paced this time, but still innerEV'd the seventh interval about 90 seconds in (pace was ~1:45 @29-30 spm). Hopefully I'll have a complete 7th in me next time, after which the next step will be to maintain pace and bring my HR down a bit, because 190+ is pretty painful.

yeah wow, 192....what's your max?

never satisfying to have to HD at the end of a session and not brilliant for the ego to have a slightly lower ave time, but helicopter view....you got a ton of work done and you'll benefit from it.

just the 16.7k of warmup, cooldown and interval metres! I salute the grit of doing 20 mins after a traumatic interval workout

Had the option to do 25' today if I felt good, so I paced this one slightly slower than last time. Felt good, and was definitely challenging, but not soul crushing.

Not sure about my max HR, but probably not much higher than 195. I was over the bonk a few minutes after I finished; as you say, this piece is hot pain and I'll get it next time.

The last twenty minutes of cooldown was punishment for innerEVing it.

Feeling a cold coming on, but still wanted to do this and actually get the third interval in (I have to increase in speed between the first and the second interval to be "allowed"). Immediately after finishing the second, I didn't want to do the third at all, but I innerEV'd out on my last interval session and didn't want to make it a habit. Had to tick up in strokes a bit - 220 on the button in the first piece, then 222 and 225, so slightly high on the last one - the higher drag is definitely a bit fatiguing. Glad to have gotten this one, though. Not sure if he typo'd the rest interval going down from 8' to 6', but that also sucked.
