Sad to see this h&f stalwart out of competition for h&f's fittest man title. Looks like a 2way race between feel wrath and papa loco. Strong edge loco, he trains smarter, still.

As to what went wrong, we can only surmise. That 4 week deload would be something to look at. And a reminder that summer heat can also beat up the best of us.

RIP. Another fattie bites the dust.

Yeah, I’m suspicious of the 4 week reload too. Seems off.

Drop the coach and come back to the Pete’s Plan and have fun with your uncle Feelers

I'm around, just in the middle of a two month block of travel every week, among other things - this length deload was definitely not planned, but I just got lazy and need to get back into things. Probably going to rebalance the rowing/lifting balance a bit (3x per week of each, with light rowing during lifting days) and see how that works. Maybe at some point in the next few weeks, maybe in mid-August when things calm down. Did have vacation last week, which was nice. K.

Back-ish; finally home after two months of work/vacation. Weighed in at 205 Saturday, so back to tracking calories and rowing. Light rows of 15', 20', and 20' the last three days, all of which were humblingly difficult.

Plan is to keep my diet in check, which mainly means in bed early so no booze/dessert. I'll row at least 30 minutes a day, and gradually work up to 2-3 longer sessions a week, hopefully by the end of September.

For now, though we didn't communicate during my hiatus. We're scheduled to chat Friday.

20' yesterday and 25' today. Down to 198.

Thanks man, glad to be back. I hope all is well with you too.

30' the last two days, and averaged sub 2:10 today. Drag back up to something resembling my previous UT2 level (85-90).

Talked to TG, and he said to just keep rowing every day and sending him data, and he'll create my next month of programming after a week or so. He didn't seem too concerned, and just said time on the erg would be important to build back rowing specific strength and allow me to express my conditioning as it comes back. We shall see.

UT2 (30'): 7065 m/2:07.4/16.7 spm/MHR 184

This was the first time I felt really good on the erg. 15' @16 spm, 10' @17 spm, and 5' @18 spm; my HR was obviously high compared to where it was previously, but I felt strong throughout and could have done a bit more.

Good to see you back in the saddle.

Just rowing or any lifting mixed in?

Melk,

Just rowing for now, though I think I'm going to add in bodyweight stuff this week. Given we only have a few months until adult boosters and the minis getting the shot, feels like I can just wait and mitigate the downside risk to the wifeacore from an (admittedly unlikely) breakthrough case.

UT2 (30'): 6930 m/2:09.9/16.0 spm/MHR 172

Another good day, though I intentionally kept it a bit lighter than yesterday: 10' @15.0 spm, 10' @16.0 spm, and 10' @17.0 spm. Everything was smooth and I felt like I could have done a bit more.

Per TG, I'm to add in a few longer (~45') sessions this week to see how it goes; practically speaking this shouldn't be too different to my recent sessions, as it will just shift my 14-15 spm work to a true warmup (now that it actually feels like a warmup again).

8/23
UT2 - 30'
7027m/2:08.1/16.0 spm/169 HR/180 MHR
r2208m (10' warmup)

40 total minutes, so inching up slowly; ramped up nicely in effort on this one and felt pretty good throughout.

I seem to recall my HR was a fair bit higher rowing in the morning in comparison to the afternoon, so I'll just hope the relative rate comes down if I can make myself keep training before work/getting the minis to school.

There are some folks on facebook that claim different heart rates from morning to afternoon workouts. I think its voodoo nonsense and everytime i ask for logged HRM proof with temperature and humidity readings attached, they disappear.

Well, I guess we'll see, if I ever go back to rowing during the day after I get my fitness back.

8/24
UT3 - 30'
6705m/2:14.2/14.0 spm/157 HR/172 MHR

Decided on a light one today; other than the HR, fairly typical of my old UT3 work in terms of pace.

UT2 - 30'
7027m/2:06.9/16.1 spm/171 HR/181 MHR
r2233m (10' warmup)

Continues to feel ok, though my HR is still higher than I'd like; I'm assuming it'll come down over the next few months. Added in daily frequency pushups; I'll see how that goes over the next few weeks then add in some pullups, assuming my elbows can handle it.

198 this morning, and still fat. Not ideal.

8/26
UT2 - 30'
7160m/2:05.7/16.1 spm/172 HR/182 MHR
r2275m (10' warmup)

Bit faster than yesterday; continues to feel ok but not great.
