I'm too poor; the canned veggies fit my budget this month.

That's not true. Provided the canned veggies don't have added salt/sugar, canned vegetables generally hold their own nutrient-wise against fresh vegetables. And if they're easier and cheaper for her, more power to her.

They aren't cheaper, they're easier though.

But sex tho.

I mean fresh is going to be superior to canned/frozen, but at least we are talking vegetables here.
09-07-2016 , 07:14 PM
Ya'all are vegetable snobs.
09-07-2016 , 08:12 PM
Canned veggies are absolutely a disgusting mushy mess.

I love frozen peas.

I mean, this seems pretty nitty. If the side to her meals was lard then obviously people should be on that, but if she prefers canned or frozen, either for convienence or its just what she's use to, seems like energy better spent elsewhere.

I prefer canned peas. Come at me.
09-07-2016 , 10:13 PM
I prefer my broccoli in a bag.

Some training lady I was stuck with for a day did this, but my manager has yet to take me to lunch. She went out with some ppl today and didn't invite me; it seems weird since this is only my 4th day here.

It was a test and you failed it by not offering your co-workers a slice.

100% this. There's enough to nit pick. This is on the way low end of the nit pick.

Sure, but one could make the argument that if she uses veggies that actually taste good, then she might acquire a taste for veggies instead of 6 slices of zaa and bacon cheeseburgers.

zaa should be an autoban on sight

I've been dieting for 6 months and while I've been trying to eat the stuff I like from time to time to keep sanity high, I can't find a way to fit pizza. I'm all against banning foods, but if there were ever one to ban, pizza would be it. The one time I had pizza during this time, it had a ton of cannabis on it so I'd only need to eat two slices to get the desired effect.

Renton,

Make this tortilla pizza: http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2...za-recipe.html

~200 tortilla
~200 cheese
~100 pepperoni and sauce

500 cals for the whole thing! I bet you could make a tasty 350 cal version.

Pretty cool. Wish I owned an oven...

Anyway, it still would be hard for me to be able to eat this just because the macros are so poor. I already don't get enough protein as it is. I guess switching the pepperoni to chicken breast and the cheese to reduced fat may up the protein to permissible levels.

Good lord... eat two real slices instead of that abomination. You are not doing yourself any favors.

That's the same argument I've been using for why she should go keto and eat steak and ranch dressing, but it isn't working. FWIW, depending on the kind of vegetables, I don't think canned vegetables are that bad. And for MLYLT, like many, I think she'd be more likely to give up veggies if she had to deal with preparing them fresh than not liking the taste of canned.

I think she should just eat the garbage she normally eats but reduce portion sizes and add in exercise while slowly making healthier substitutions in her diet (e.g., baked potato vs fries; tea vs soda) until she's actually eating cleaner foods and doesn't miss garbage, but if she's actually going to stick with veggies, then frozen is easy and tastes far better than mushy, salty canned carrot slices and green beans. I mean, why eat off a nursing home menu when you are not forced to?
