I loved watching those bombs from my vantage point behind the plate, especially cuz the kid I caught for was such a huge douchebag and I had pretty much given up on baseball at that point.

My best four-seam bolt is probably 78-79. My two-seam fastball sits around 73-74.

Went 2-for-4 today with a double that just barely missed getting out of here. Turned a ~83 mph fastball around but got under it too much. Also drew a walk. We came back to win 14-13 in the top of the ninth (and held the lead), which was great.

if you throw an 80, or even 85 mph fastball right over the middle of the plate, is that okay?

Not against me; I have no trouble hitting straight fastballs until they get to be about 87-88. But it's a good start.

I am happy to report that the WODs "Moving to a new home" and the Thremp-approved diet of "Stop eating" has enabled me to cut 10 pounds in a short time.

hey kyle, why can i front squat and back squat about the same weight? if you are wondering why i ask here it is because if i post this in the JULY thread, or in the Beginners question thread, I will be ignored, and if i start a thread people will make fun of me.

here is an interesting article about pithcing at the top www.ericcressey.com

All that said, regardless of your age, experience level, and current velocity, don’t skimp on calories. If you look at every bit of research on the pitching motion, body weight predicts pitching velocity

Went 2-for-2 with a walk today. Three popups, one 6-4-3 double play, and a diving grounder that I just missed. Baseball is great.

Turns out when you don't lift for awhile and cut weight, this stuff becomes hard.

-3x335

Bench Press
-our bench sucks, i found out

Chin-ups
-a bunch of singles (I'm going to try to do 3-5 singles per hour while working)

-5x90

Good move.

At this rate your squat strength should converge with most of us 90s weak lifters sometime soon. If nothing else this should motivate you to get back to lifting.

Seems unlikely. I haven't squatted in weeks. It comes back fairly easily for me.

0-for-3 but hit the ball hard twice. We won in a 3-2 walkoff. Our ex-pro pitcher came in when it was 2-2, threw 84-87 MPH and struck out the side, then got the win because he hit the game-winning double.

Friday, August 6th

Metcon (4 rounds)

Workout A:
-Push sled + 135 pounds 60 feet.
-Pull sled + 135 pounds 60 feet.
-Push sled + 135 pounds 60 feet.
-Pull sled + 135 pounds 60 feet.

Workout B:
-Ride Airdyne at a fast pace

Did this with a partner. He started with Workout A while I did Workout B. The idea is that the partner on Workout B is indefinitely riding the Airdyne while the other partner is pushing/pulling the sled.

This. ****ing. Sucked. The batting cage carpet provided a ton of friction, which made it a lot harder than we thought it would be.

Here's a pic of the sled, straps, and emptied water bottle:

Pretty good. It's slow here since it's the summer, obv. So not making big-time money yet. I knew that going into it though.

Definitely a great atmosphere.

I have a lot of freelance work starting next week, so that's good. Plus baseball will calm down soon and I can log some poker hours.

Oh yeah, and a kid from Canada is coming down to train with me over a weekend, which is some $.

Saturday, August 7th

5 rounds of batting practice (~20 balls per round). Had a game but it was rained out in the first inning. Drew a walk in my only PA.

Sunday, August 8th

5 rounds of batting practice, threw a short bullpen (~40 pitches). Game rained out.

Monday, August 9th

Squat:
-5x315
-3x335
-3x3x365

Feels fine. Didn't want to push it.

Back extensions:
-2x10 unweighted

I am training a bro in a week. Therefore, I must put myself in the mind of a bro. Today at work I did:

2x10x60 tricep pulldowns
2x10x115 bench press
2x15x60 DB row per side
many chin-ups (not very broish i know)
2x10x60 barbell curls

With much more to come this week.

Yeah, I see heaps of the bros do chins on bis/shoulders day and dips on tris/chest day.
