UPDATE

For the past 7 days, I've only gone to the gym every other day and I did less cardio. I still did 60 min on the elip twice, however. The other days was a combo of a very intense upper body workout, ab machines, running a mile, and/or swimming.

I've averaged 1300 calories/day. I've continued to do the protein shakes, but only on days I worked out. My diet has remained very protein based (cut out so much fruit), but have eaten fattier foods (couple of steaks instead of chicken). Also, I've been using a cup of fat free milk to mix my shakes, which I know is bad. I'll change that soon...I'm hoping the taste of the shake will grow on me more.

I'll do a weigh in again after my day 29 workout, which is right before I leave town for 5 days for a wedding.

This will be the first time in my life that I'll be "watching what I eat" while on vacation (it's just Ohio, but still, we'll be eating out a lot).

My worry isn't the food, however, but I am going to consume a lot of alcohol on two of these days. I know there is no such thing as healthier alcohol, but I was wondering which is least fattening/damaging. Any opinions, here?

Fav options:

-Light beer (100 calories/serving)- I've never had Corona Light, but I was thinking of trying that out.
-White wine
-Jack and Diet Coke
-Pinnaple/vodkas

I won't be able to drink shots as I already checked and the bartenders at the wedding won't be allowed to serve them...besides that, it's open bar.

F*ck drinking light beer. The jack and coke is probably the best and most manly. I mean... Pinaple/vodka? Really?

If I'm going low-cal in the alcohol, I like scotch and soda water.

It's pretty easy, choose whatever drink has the least extra calories. Typically hard liquor + mixer.

hmmmmm I think some would be surprised (this is dependent on not having diet coke as the mixer) that light beer is not a bad option here.

I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly...

Yeah, but then you have to be a massive gay and drink light beer.

Nah-ah. Light beers were designed for gay men to drink. It is true. I wouldn't lie about that sort of thing.

Since I'm not from the US, I had the "pleasure" of drinking light beer for the first time this summer. That's right, we don't have that stuff here.

Miller's Light is probably the worst alcohol I've ever drunk. The local moonshine is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> compared to that piss. What a COMPLETE atrocity!

Also yeah Spenda, mixing with copious amounts of calorie-filled soda is probably slightly worse than light beer. But seriously whatever, difference can't be that huge. Or just drink it plain.

Have you actually consumed beer from your part of the world? I'd be hesitant to tout any of the virtues of beer in a Nordic country over the States. In fact I'd call anyone who sincerely thought beer was better in those countries a monstrous ****ing idiot with no taste.

You must have missed the part where I talked about any beer apart from Miller Lite.

I fully agree good beer is way more available in the US is way than here. Basic beer (light pilsner varieties mostly) here is better than your ****ty beer (Bud, Miller), but not by much. On the other hand pale ale, amber ale and so forth isn't sold in stores here, only in the communist monopoly sales places.

Of the bottled beer I tasted I probably liked the Dog Fish Head IPA the best.

Edit: I'm not really a huuuge beer guy tho, I prefer wine whenever the food makes it possible to go with wine.

nom nom nom

That is a pretty standard IPA, but I'm not a huge IPA fan. I'll drink them. There is just a wealth of other stuff to drink. And Miller Light is the ultra worst. Though Bud/Coors/Etc are a marked improvement over the swill sold there.

Yeah in general I was super-impressed with the beer in the US, waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than here. And with way better availability of the actual good stuff in regular stores as well.

Probably because you've been drinking Crown Lager for your entire life.

I don't mind light-beer when I'm dieting b/c I'm realistic about it. I love when people debate this, since we all agree in basic principle that light beer is the bottom of the barrel yet everyone takes it upon themselves to puff our their chests and act all manly on the interwebs.

Light beer has an inconsequentially lower amount of calories than regular beer.

only if by regular you mean the "full flavored" versions of the light beers imo.

miller lite 4.2% abv, 96 cal
coors light 4.2% abv, 104 cal
sam adams boston lager 4.75% abv, 160 cal
sierra nevada pale ale 5.6% abv, 175 cal

but this is exactly what pisses me off about mgd 64. yay, 64 calories for a whopping 2.8% beer.

fwiw 96*2/3 = 64
and 4.2*2/3 = 2.8

in essence making mgd 64 2/3 miller lite and 1/3 water.

problem with guinness is that it's only 4.2% abv. so at 125 calories per 12oz, it's still not close to ~100/12oz.
