It looks like a lemon filling of some sort. I can get bomb lemon squares down the road.

I know it looks like that but there is no lemon flavor at all.

No lemon. Really dense, really sweet (with some salt), and buttery caramel. I highly recommend getting Birthday Cake truffles when you go there as well, but make sure you eat them separately.

Cherry pie is another one of those things where if you get the right filling (real sour cherries) it can be a completely different food from the syrupy abortion you usually get.

Chicagbros - Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits has never disappointed.

Real sour cherries are harder to find than I would have thought. When I used to live in CT we had lots of massive sour cherry trees growing right outside our apartment. Made the best cherry pies ever. I think that we were the only ones that had any interest in them.

Currently have a couple of sour cherry trees we're trying to grow in our yard, but they're still pretty young and not doing that great. Barely get enough yield for one pie.

Bros, I've got a bro who smokes a lot. He's never really tried to quit but sometimes mentions that he wants to. Early 30s. Close to a pack a day his whole adult life.

The other day he said he wants to quit again. We started talking about some kind of last longer bet (I smoke occasionally... But basically only when I'm with him because I don't have any other smoker friends, so I would be a massive favorite here and basically free rolling, but he's ok with that).

I started coming up with some kind of plan like every month he gives me $500 (about what he spends on smokes) and if he doesn't smoke I give it back. Or maybe I give it back after 6 months or 12 months so that there is more incentive to stay quit. Or maybe something like I give a fixed percentage back every period so the sum keeps growing. Or maybe the percentage keeps growing over time to eventually be 100% in say five or ten years or something.

Basically I'm asking you smart maths bros to design the parameters of this for us.

Betting aside tell your bro to get a copy of Allan Carr's book, it helped me quit almost 5 years ago and it was a lot easier than I thought

Or don't tell him, if you want to keep the money
11-28-2016 , 03:21 AM
Another good mutual bro quit probably around five years ago on that book and has been encouraging vilian to read it for years.
11-28-2016 , 05:21 AM
Yeah it helped me as well. There's a lot of pseudoscientific mumbo jumbo in the book which needs to be ignored though. The super optimistic OMG WOW NOT SMOKING IS THE BESTEST LIFE EVAR!!! tone is pretty annoying too.

So maybe find a better book if it exists

Synbro for some reason I'm really surprised to hear that you used to smoke. Guess I've just always pictured you as a healthy dude.

Snitch: bet is a good idea just make sure the amount of money is enough to hurt but not so much that he might not be honest.
11-28-2016 , 06:08 AM
Yeah, the amount of money is basically going to be in the range of what he would spend on smokes (which is off the chain in Australia). Over 12 months it's probably in the range of 1.5x month salary. He's a good friend so obv I'm not trying to break him or anything and probably anything I did win I would "give back" in the form of some kind of booby prize like casino chips or strippers or something (but obv I'm not going to tell him that).

I'm also trying to figure out a mechanism that if he falls off the wagon, he takes a hit, but is still incentivized to get back on. Like a security deposit or something he can lose, but he can still take a run at the accumulating "jackpot".

I'm actually fairly certain he will fail (and probably more than once) or never actually agree to terms, so I don't want it to be a disincentive either.

Lol yeah between 18 and 25 I was ****faced several times a week partying and did a decent amount of drugs. When I was studying I was even binging on Mondays. My first few years in China were also really degen, I was always kind of unhappy and living towards thu/fr/sat to get drunk and chase girls and had a blast. Then woke up feeling miserable. Repeat.

At some point I randomly joined a buddy during his backpack travel for about 30 days and spent a ****load of time reflecting, and turned into this overly obsessed self-improvement health freak who said no to almost everything for poker & gains. Then later found acceptance and balanced that out with some of the pleasures of life. I feel I'm at pretty optimal frequencies right now.

I slowly started smoking around 16 which increased up to a pack a day my last few years. In China I remember waking up and even smoking a cigarette first thing of the day still in bed with the ashtray on my nightstand. I found myself smoking even at the times I really didn't want to and then found myself still doing it and finding it terrible. That's when I quit.

It's a hobby. I live on 25 acres, mostly wooded. During the week I sit in a cubicle.
