I am thinking fasting or very light eating is the way to go come game time? But also playing only short (or shorter) amounts of time. Exercise is key for poker I think as well, but should it come before or after? Basically I am wondering about the intersection of poker and general health and nutrition and wondering what you know about these two concepts.

I dunno. The most robusto person who posts on this forum (a random and potentially untrue fact) played well when eating Sour Patch Kids all day and allegedly plays well when eating vegan and allegedly plays well when not eating vegan.

So I guess as long as you don't feel bad, u fine.

gummy bears make some sense because they are probably pretty easy to digest I guess? I am thinking carbs before the game nothing during, what do you guys think? Are you smarter when you are hungry?

Paleolithic Diet all day when playing.

Only eat:

Lean meats
Nuts/Seeds
Berries
Vegetables

I would also recommend using a cognitive performance supplement. Pretty soon I'll be mixing a serving of LG Sciences Anadraulic State GT with SNS Focus XT for improved mental performance in long sessions. Normally I can only get 6-8hrs of clean play, but I've been in talks with a couple guys that are friends that dose these two products and they said it has helped them tremendously. I think you can get them both at Bodybuilding.com

Man I have tried using both of those while playing, mostly while throwing down with the boys at home, but Jack3d was just too much, and there is a HUGE crash. I use the ASGT while lifting and it gives me a great focus with no crash. Only used it once while playing, but thanks for the reminder. If I remember correctly daddy brought home the bank that night!

I take a shot of each of these on non-poker days:

- Molecular Nutrition X-Factor Advanced™
- Maximum Human Performance T-Bomb™ II
- Universal Nutrition Animal M-Stak (tastes like cherries)

and a double dose of Anaconda on poker days. I get all my supplements at bodybuilding.com as well. I'll try that LGSASGT bro, I've heard great reviews.

How do you like the Anaconda? Do you get it from EliteFTS? - I'm fairly close with some athletes that are sponsored by Biotest, but I've never tried any of their products. Most of them seem pretty overpriced for what they are.

Let us know how you like the ASGT! My poker buddies said they have been taking 1 sc every 2-3hrs during their sessions and it helps tremendously. I'm intrigued by the idea.

What kind of resistance training do you currently do? Anything specific?

Looks to be. It's probably not that bad of a carb source when playing, but I would definitely opt for berries or something like that instead. Brain food, sucka!

i'm on the paleo diet anyway but what do these supplements do? is it better to eat heavily before playing, or lightly or not at all? thoughts on caffeine?

Lightly for sure, but that means you have to eat throughout. I don't know what your table rules are. I usually sit out for 10mins and eat a quick meal. I pack food in tupperware when I go to the casino and just bring my backpack along.

Caffeine is the foundation of a stimulant-stack. As I mentioned previously, a serving of Anadraulic State GT and Focus XT looks to be amazing. - If you're looking merely for pills or tablets, I'd just get the ECA but your receptors will burn out quickly. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can fix that though.

Nothing wrong with paleo if you're into that. But it's like being a vagitarian or w/e. If you're going to do it, don't do it specifically because of health advantages.
