Hey all:

My buddy and I want to do a prop bet. We are at different places in our fitness journeys and we have different body types etc. we are hoping to find someone to help us formulating benchmarks for the bet. The idea is that someone could take our hydrotank stats and help us to set realistic but tough monthly benchmarks for the prop bet. I know this won't be apples to apples that's why we are looking for a knowledgeable third party to give it their best shot. We are willing to pay reasonable compensation for any time invested in working on this. Please respond here or by pm if you're interested in helping.

Are you looking at fat loss, or muscle gain, strength gain, cardio improvement or some combination?

Some combination of fat loss and muscle gain. One of us (me) has more fat to lose so that is one of the elements that we need to figure out a way to sort of scale between us. He is a good bit closer to being in good shape.

Why don't you make a process-orientated bet? Days of calories under target and days at gym as programmed? Then it would become an honour-based fine system.

The results-focused way is really hard to normalise between people, even with a tank-based measurement (still variance here). And if the point is to motivate you both to make a change, I think this will yield the best long term change.

Eh, that sorta takes a little bit of the fun out of it. What I was thinking is that someone just looks at where each of us is at and maps out a 6 month benchmark and we break it up month at a time. You're not the first to suggest something like what you are saying though.

Its really difficult to look at two people and figure out where they "should" be in six months... that's something this forum has shown.

Loco might be someone who would give it a shot.

If you were twin brothers this would be easy, even if one was fatter.

I would look at three individual lifts from prop beginning to end, such as squat, bench, pull-ups. Then look at beginning height weight bodyfat and ending height weight bodyfat.

I don't have time for peanuts so that's all I am going to look into. It sounds like you want a month to month progress propbet and that would take too much time to conceive and implement (it would involve wilks score, LBM measurement but also take into account fakelbm, etc etc).

Why not instead just post your before after hydrostatic numbers and then go balls out for six months and we will decide who wins? We would nail it with close to 100% accuracy by just looking at the pics, lifts, and bodyfat numbers. And actually I think we can nail it pretty good by just looking at the bodyfat numbers (we know who gets brownie points for nonnewb gains).
