Guy that used straps for the incline bench gave me another GGO today. Not only does he now (he may have yesterday, didn't notice) carry around a gallon jug of water, he does some atrocious squats. No pics or videos since he works out in another part of the gym (not the powerlifting room) that I only see when I walk to the bathroom or enter/leave the gym. It would be too obvious I was videoing him. I'd say he half squats, but his body looks like a question mark. Not only is his lower back rounded, his upper back is too. When he goes down he ends up looking like a question mark.

I don't even like when people talk near my squat rack.

Pretty clear "rerack the bar, unplug his phone, then move it out of the squat rack" situation. ISFing (throwing phone across room) is optional.

I could imagine accidentially dropping a plate after I'm done if somebody did that when I'm squatting. Assuming he left the phone at the floor.

2 skinny hs/college bros stop to point and laugh at the boxing/cardio "class" in the corner of the gym. Multiple times.

Go back to their sets of 1/4 ROM bench presses. (like 135 or 155, so likely BW).

I chuckle when me and Mrs. Rhymes go to the gym and I coach her on form. There's almost always someone close by doing bench/squat/whatever the bro way. Like if she does a partial bench ROM I'll tell her nope, lift doesn't count unless it touches the chest. Meanwhile the bro next to us is doing maybe 50% ROM. If my proximity judgement nudges a single bro to man up and fix their form, I'll break my vow never to fist bump at the gym again.

won't happen, bros allow nothing to interfere with kidding themselves

You're probably right. Cue sailor rows.

And the H&F reg points and laughs at them. The circle of life!

Let's say someone is doing a set of squats (outside of a rack). If you need to walk behind them while they are squatting (so they can't see you). How close is too close. I try to give them about 8 ft minimum (If I have to get closer than that I'll just wait until they're done with their set). Too little?

the old school way of doing rows by planting 1 end of a barbell into the corner of the wall and then loading the other end with plates ..... yesterday this dude loaded them up and then proceeded to basically pass the bar from side to side like some type of twisting core workout?

wtf is this? i took a short video cause i couldn't i lol'd inside during his 1st set of it but dunno if it's GGO or i'm just out of the loop here? he had maybe 75 # up, it cant have been too taxing

Have to see the video to be sure.

I saw some guys doing something I'd never seen before with the row barbell. Loaded up a decent amount of weight. They stood parallel to the bar, left arm on the inside. They pulled the bar up with the left hand, then twisted to the left as they dropped the bar into the right hand and pressed the weight. Drop it to the ground, repeat. Next set, switch sides. I'm not sure if that's a GGO. Actually looked like a decent workout.

The only person I've seen doing this is my brother

Yep, that's what the bros I saw were doing, except they only used one hand for the pull, then switched hands for the press.

At least it sounds like they stem from a legit exercise: look up Landmine, and there's Landmine Press. Except if you do it right, I don't think you can handle 75lbs:

IME it's pretty easy to shift the exercise from a core anti-rotation to being a lat/shoulder exercise (the dude in Banned4lyfe's vid is not doing landmines).

This cute girl (8.5/10) was doing deadlifts in the cage. I came to the cage and she said he had one more set to go. Great. She finishes up and just leaves the weight there (douchebaguette... female douche... coined it here, bitches. TM).

I follow her and ask her, "could you please strip the weights?" She doesn't take me seriously and gives this little stuck up laugh like she's trying to say, "what, you can't take the weights off yourself?" My politeness quickly fades and I tell more sternly this time, "go take the weights off." She goes and does it right away.

ALPHA

Spoiler:
Her attitude dropped her to a 4/10. Too bad.

I'd shake the PTs hand.

If hot, would skip handshake and bang instead.

Her worksets should've been your warmup if you even lifted bro.

I guess this thread has turned me into a super cautious gym goer. After reading some of these GGOs, it seems like it bad form to be even in the same zip code while someone is squatting. The gym I go to is pretty spacious, though, so there's really no excuse to get closer.
