I'm probably wrong but I think the fish oil I have been taking is helping me breath better and reduce my allergy symptoms. I swear I am breathing as good as I ever have......

The only thing that makes him an "idiot" to me is hes trying to learn a very complex lift with too much weight. not really worth posting on youbute IMO though.

you get what i'm saying.

For me it is easier on the treadmill. I can't seem to get the same intensity outdoors that I can get on a treadmill. I wish I could (and I have tried) but I can't.

I have ran outside a lot and HIIT training is ridiculous outside but no sweat on a treadmill.

KC,

Trail running is insane hard. If I was some insane athletic freak I could see where trail running would be the nuts though.......

10 mins from my house is one of the best places in the country to trail run imo. I am a little bias of course I am sure there are a ton of other great places as well.

This is a mental issue, unless there's some very unique physical issues you have that makes a treadmill doable but not actual running.

If it's no sweat then is it really HIIT training?

I really doubt you need to be an athletic freak to make use of running on a trail in your workout.

Wow. Those pics are really beautiful. You need to internalize what you can and can't do better, get outside and make use of that trail. I understand it's sometimes "easier" to plan workouts with something that doesn't change, but oh man, you're lifeEV has to be so much higher out with those views and nature.

Sweet pics WW!

I just get insanely bored running on the treadmill or doing any cardio inside. Whether im running on the road or the trails or on my bike there is something to look at that is better than watching the timer... tick... so... slowly...

I agree. I think it is part mental part I don't know how to pace myself without a treadmill.

I thought somebody would say that. I don't mean i am not gasping for air when i am done. I just mean I can actually do it. Today i ran for 10 min's at about an 8 1/2 min/mile. I then ran 5 sprints at 12 mph for a min each with a 2 min walk in between.

I may have overstated that. I have done it a few times and it absolutely killed me. I could barely run a few miles. There are tons of hills and your footing is not always great it's pretty brutal imo but i am obviously using way to small of a sample size.

Yeah i agree i have only ran there a handful of times but it is so sick. The pics don't do it justice.

WW - just make it one of your goals to do it more outside. Maybe you'll end up being an "athletic freak" .

I have a lot of trouble pacing myself too (on treadmill, in a pickup basketball game, running outside, eating lunch, lol) and I think it will get easier the more familiar you are with different trails and do it more frequently. Practice makes competence.

I'm mainly so fired up simply b/c those pictures are so awesome. It's not like you're running around a trailer park :P.

HIIT on a trail (or anything on a trail obv) is going to feel a lot different than HIIT on a treadmill, so just listen to how you feel and how beat you are rather than the time you record for each sprint or w/e.

I think some minor skin issues have improved since I started taking more fish oil. I know it helps with a lot of things. I have no idea if lungs are one of them or not.

Nice pics - do you live near the Dells?

Well that's a pretty hardcore trail, but in general, it's not a big deal. And there's no need to be concerned with times or miles, unless you're training specifically for something (in which case you wouldn't be on a treadmill). All that matters is you do a little work, and that you progress over time. So maybe a one mile loop on that trail takes 15 mins and is hard as hell. Who cares?

there is only one reason to stay indoors and stare straight ahead for a cardio workout, and she better have the best ass and legs on the stair stepper infront directly infront of you.

Could it be that running outside is harder (wind, hills, etc) so you actually run slower than you would on the treadmill?

Trail running isn't really any harder than anything else if you build endurance for it... ya know?

I loved running in Garden of the Gods, but I always felt that the trails at Palmer Park were more difficult (if I didn't want to straight run up mountains).
The Columbine trail on Cheyenne (behind the humming bird place) was my ****, though. I loved that mountain so much.

I miss Colorado

(last one isn't mine)
Sorry about the picture spam. I hate where I live now because hiking isn't that easy to get to.

doesn't matter, mark rippletoe didn't talk about front squats, other people aren't special snowflakes so they shouldn't do it, it would be a clear case of fancy play sydnrome.

Serious question: How is front squatting FPS?

Front squats aren't FPS. They're a great exercise for intermediates and absolutely vital for an o-lifter. Bruiser is trying to make fun of us all by saying that since front squats aren't part of SS, all of us would say they are unnecessary and shouldn't be done. This is obviously untrue, but bruiser gonna bruiser.

Just watched the Dan John talk with Mark Rippetoe. DJ prefers front squats because they're much easier to teach and mistakes aren't as costly. Rippetoe doesn't disagree.
