best way to measure is using a caliper I guess. my understanding is that most major gyms have the thicker bars (like 30s or 31s) and powerlifters prefer 29s/28s but I could be off.

Guy loads up the leg press with 4 plates a side and throws on an extra 2.5lb plate for good measure, must have been Holliday?

Looks like *someone* has never heard of micro loading. I keep a set of steel washers for adding a gram here or there.

the gym in my building (which is surprisingly good) replaced all the barbells (except on the squat rack) with 25mm 15kg women's barbells. it's awful.

I thought about deadlifting 399 yesterday, but went with 4 plates (and clips) for the aesthetics. Am I doing it right?

I've been going to a "normal" gym now for a couple weeks and 100% of the dudes that wear a hat are idiots. Usually some combination of poor exercise selection and lulzworthy form. Why would you wear a hat to the gym anyways?

Mostly to keep sweat off your face, and to look presentable in public, assuming you have adult length hair and not a buzz cut. People here have posted themselves working out in shorts and hoodies, that is ******ed.

College kids update; bench pressing 420, at exactly 4:20. 3 guys, rapidfire 1rm. They could not have been happier. I think they were wearing hats, backwards.

lolwot. I'm sure I will regret asking, but how does a cap make you look more presentable than just having normal hair?

...and working out in shorts is ******ed?

Hoodie is debatable.

Older guy looking kinda like a Rick flair era wrestler with wild silver thick hair and mustache wearing a red home-made sleeveless t-shirt. He is a big dude but mostly not muscle. He is using one of the only two adjustable cable crossover stations in our gym that has about 250 unused elipticals sitting idle at any given moment (but that's a different complaint). My buddy asks him how many sets he has left and he says 6. As previously mentioned, with the group of us we don't ask to work in as it turns a single into a foursome which is a little much to ask, so we change and move onto another excersise nearby to wait our turn.

He proceeds to do two sets of three excersise I've never seen before. Th best way I can describe them is

1. Holding the handles around ass level way behind you and thrusting your hands forward in a motion similar to Mickey Mouse as Merlin's assistant when he turned all them brooms alive to do his chores.

2. Unilateral move as if you are landing a monster marlin.

3. You are a rapper who made it big and soon will be wearing two enormous solid gold watches on each wrist and need to get in shape to check what time it is with a flip of the elbow.

High pitched grunt on each rep, please.

Pretty busy / cramped gym. Guy adrenaline pacing up and down one of the narrow thoroughfares between sets of curling 20kg. I'm behind him heading to the other end, he stops dead suddenly, turns to the mirror, air practices his golf swing.

Later he's heading towards one of the plate stands near me at a fast pace, goes to grab a 5kg one at the top with both hands, seems a bit ott, oh no that makes sense, he just turns it back and forth a few times like a steering wheel, paces off again.

Steering wheel exercise is legit for shoulders, no?

I've heard both. One has to consider the movement in context of what you're trying to really do.

I put it alongside side bends in terms of usefulness.

To hatfish obv lol

Completely agree though, I can't imagine the sweat build up after 1 use. Maybe they can afford to buy a new hat everytime otherwise it's just disgusting. Guess it depends how bad your receding hairline is. There's gotta be a break even point in there somewhere.

Wearing a hat eliminates disheveled hair, for those of us who have adult length hair, and keeps the sweat off your face. Of course wearing shorts isn't ******ed. Wearing them, while wearing a hoodie, working out is undoubtedly ******ed. Wearing a hoodie while working out is always ******ed unless you are in sub freezing temps, even then it is debatable.

To be clear, the plate remained on the stand while being turned.

Guy benching with a pussy pad on his chest and a towel over it, of course it didn't work out well and it fell off so on his next set he put the pussy pad under his shirt with great success
