Had a solid workout today. Did some light deadlifts. Then worked up to an easy 245 squat. And then hit a super easy paused front squat at 195.
And then I hit a 165x2 press at 163lb bodyweight.
Its comeback time!! As my boy Russell Wilson said, "Every setback has a major comeback." I don't know why they didn't just run the ball. That was over a 30 dime swing for me.
But I am having success running a PR Table. If you want to know more about this, just google John Phung and PR Table.
It's obviously not optimal strength training, but wow its a lot of fun for me. I get to hit a PR every workout!! And its great because I just pick whatever exercise and reps I want to hit. For an old man like myself, this is just awesome. Sometimes a heavy front squat is there for me. Sometimes just gotta upperbody and go light on lower. Loving it. The lowback pain is always there, but its always just 3/10. I just say fack it, and squat anyways. It hasn't gotten worse.
I went hiking in Boquete, Panama looking for this badboy
Did not find him, should have spent a bit extra and gotten a guide.
I did find this creeper as I was sipping on a cup of geisha coffee (panama has some of he best coffee in the world).
Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated, look at the pecs bulging out. This little guy named blue meets you at the trailhead and actually guides you up the trail. We stopped at the cloud forest and turned around though
He is a creeper though because he was also guiding two girls from Holland who disappeared on that same trail. Later a foot in a boot was found. And a hip was found in another location. Happened exactly a year ago, its a great mystery. Just google boquete + blue + Holland girls and you will find endless chatter.
It's stunning up there and beer is $1. Euros love it.
The geisha coffee from Esmeralda has won best coffee awards like 5 out of the last 7 years. I tried the same variety but a different grower (Café Ruiz) and it was pretty good. But very freaky, its very smooth floral and tastes like tea. Mind was blown.
We were lazy though, you can start the hike for the volcano at midnight and you will get to the top at 6am. And you can catch views of both the Pacific Ocean and the carribbean from the mountaintop. Oh well, next time.
