Go as deep as you can without letting your low back move at all. If you go so deep that your back moves, its to deep. If that point is above parallel, you need to work on hip mobility, and maybe some other things.

What makes you think you can DL more sumo than conventional? I cant. Some people can, but you really wont know until you get good at form with both.
If you are happy with your conventional form now, go ahead & switch, but you should probably be here for at least the first time you try sumos.

Powerlifting totals are pretty common here - squat, bench, DL.
Another, less common total is the G4S total: front squat, push press, DL. Unfortunately, he hasnt posted here in a while. He was the strongest guy in the forum.
