Do you put on oly shoes for the bench or do you leave them on from your squat?

fakeb,

I couldn't help but notice that it takes you almost five seconds to initiate the squat from the start of the video, and there's a lot of dead space in between reps. Maybe try and tighten that **** up?

Helpfully,

Monte

n4rf,

I've always benched in my squat shoes; I thought that was standard?

Compared to the epic 3 hour slowrolls at the start of your videos? I'm not sure you're in a position to make that kind of request. But your happiness means a lot to me, so I'll see what I can do.

fakeb,

Not sure what level you're on, but since you're you I'll just assume level 0 and leave this here.

Benching in squat shoes is great, especially in feds requiring flat feet.

TnG bench
215x5x5

Light weight baby. Just under 20 minutes.

Pin squat, beltless
225x3, 245x3, 265x3, 245x3

Was going to make 245 the top set, but it felt heavy without being hard so went up again.

Weasel, please let me know if these are not deep enough. Instructions were to set the pins just beneath parallel.

Took about 40 minutes.

Deficit deadlift, beltless
315x5, 335x5, 315x5

ETA: Weasel told me doing these deads in oly shoes was an acceptable way to create the deficit.

These also took about 40 minutes.

Loco will be pleased with these. Back definitely got soft on later reps. Fatigue setting in. This whole routine is probably more volume than I've seen in the 1.5 years I've been lifting in H&F.

DB rows and C2

Arrived 9:30, left 11:30.

Pin squats look good. Deads were a little too heavy but looked good. For touch and go bench there should've been one last set for amrap. Good work though

OOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooh. Wouldn't be a fakeB log without missing something. I will do AMRAP next time. Thanks.

Bench looked pretty simple; your setup reminds me that I need to work on getting my hips a bit more open when I bench. Left hip still a little crunchy from that SI issue last summer; probably something I need to concentrate on.

Pin squats looked exactly parallel, so

Tired. Not sleeping well. I am troubled. I sleep for a couple of hours, awaken, lie awake until the nomzies must be satisfied, so I eat and eat and read for a while, then lie in bed for however long until I fall back asleep.

Comp bench
245x4, 255x4, 245x4

245 way too easy compared to fourth rep of 255. I blame this high volume programming. And might have paused too long on the 255 reps tbh.

Comp squat
285x4, 315x4, 305x4

Rep two of 285 was perfect imo. 315s look to be right at parallel, maybe one or two slightly high. I wanted to repeat 315 (which probably means it wasn't hard enough), but I didn't want to repeat a weight and have Weasel tell me to stfu and stick to the programming.

I need someone here to actually watch my sets as I perform them and tell me as I'm repping "good" or "deeper" or whatever. But everyone I know here is an idiot when it comes to depth.

That might be the most egregious Assani cape I've ever seen.

Squats look mostly to parallel or very slightly high? No obvious red lights imjo

Bench looks strong, although you're pulling the bar a bit too the left in your descent.

Most squats looked deep enough. Probably about the right weight too, maybe a little too light but pretty good.

Bench was too heavy but it looks like you are pretty bad at grinding out reps so i will probalby have you do sets with less reps left in the tank.

I didnt know you know EVs giant brother. Turtleneck tanktop is A+

Pretty bad at grinding out reps? Does that mean I stubbornly insist on grinding out reps at a too heavy weight? That I am not good at grinding out reps? That I am good at grinding out reps? The RPE on the last 255 rep ime left me one rep to grind out

LOL at tank top. Those are actually huge headphones sitting around his neck. It just looks like a turtleneck.

That guy is interested in competing in PL and asked me of all people for more info. He is 20 years old. 210lbs. 1200 PL total. He is on creatine, so I advised him which federation would be more likely to accept him for who he is.

Here is a decent article on grinding out reps. But what i meant was that the way 245 looked, you should have been good for like 265 -270 for four. Some people pretty much just make everything look fast/easy until it gets hard then they just fail out of no where.

Gotcha. Thanks Weasel. I am looking forward to more advice and week 2.

Is it fine to keep going 2 days on, 1 day off and start "week 2" on Friday?

I would not keep going 2 on 1 off. Take a2 day break after your fourth session of the week.
I'll probably be on a 5 day bender starting tomorrow so I wil email you you're program after you post your next session

Close grip towel press
255x3, 275x2 (+f), 265x3, 255x3

God I suck. I guess it's the same problem. I suck at grinding out reps. My mantra was power off the chest through lockout. Probably some awkwardness at play too from never having done these before.

Idk. Maybe I have fakeB comprehension of how much weaker a closer grip makes me, but I thought TnG plus towel meant I'd easily be able to press 20lbs more than I 3 count.

The guy in the video for 265 is a coach and PL. He gave me props after the lift, talked to me after the lift about how it was definitely good for me to have a close grip bench in my programming.

Comp Deadlift
335x4, 355x4, 365x4, 370x4, 355x4

Failing reps this early in the program make me but close grip will always fail earlier than you think.

I think I just overshot the top set. Too aggressive. I thought about only doing 270 but YOLO. I will know better next time. And I'm sure you will make sure I know better.
