That's the way to do it.

The weighing three times a week is working out so far. It's worth the risk of forgetting, just a relief to get a break with the routine. And I can try to develop some other senses of keeping the weight in check besides looking at the readings.

I'm getting a flu yet again, happen to have a vacation day today, but think will be in working condition tomorrow. Somehow it feels to be a lighter one. You of course never know for sure...last time was baddish.

But no gym

Sure, this is the worst flu since I don't know when. Fever 38.4 and 38.8 centigrade.

37.8 centigrade. The direction is right. Have got a hint of what suffering is.

Think the worst is over. How to describe this? Maybe the feeling of having been more dead than alive.

Feel like a phoenix. This sickness somehow helped me to put the importance of things in order. And realizing the body's incredible ability to fight back, even if it's losing the initial battle.

Yes, definitely getting better. The periods I can keep my eyes open without having to rest or sleep are getting longer, half an hour at a time? This may seem odd, but now I'm just "normally" sick.

Glad you are feeling better and are not dead.

I'm doing holiday things such as eating and drinking far too much, but just a few days left before I can* get back on track.

*"Am willing" is probably more correct than "can." I'm enjoying myself and that is important to me.

Thanks, Brian. May have found a name for what it has been about: influenza. Surely made this holiday season a bit special.

But let's stay positive. A very Merry Christmas to you all!

79.0kg. So at least not weighing in close to a week hasn't messed the project up. May add just a little of fuel.

Went to the gym and had a short hike and a short walk with dogs. Also drank all the beer and vodka and a fairly large quantity of turkey gravy. Looking forward to the end of the holidays.

So far today took a short hike with dogs. If I were as excited as dogs get on hikes, I'd be in incredible shape.

Got one of those fitbit thingamajigs for Christmas. It is pretty cool.

I'm actually using it in my attempt to contract.

It is the Fitbit Charge 3. I'm using it to track my hikes and walks (paired with my phone it can give distance traveled and pace) and general activity level, but you can track your water and food intake. It will also be cool to see how my pulse improves over time from exercising. All the feedback should help with motivation.

Already took a one mile walk today (didn't have time this morning to do more) and will be hitting the gym and taking another walk.

I'm officially done with holiday cheer, and will weigh myself tomorrow morning to see what damage I've done.

Promise me that next year you will get a flu shot?

I had it. Would maybe have been an ER case otherwise? Could explain I returned from "near dead" with that pace. Anyhow that disease has made me stay positive maybe for the rest of my life. Just being alive man, that's something! At some point in life you put your things in order.

From what I've read, it can reduce severity if you are unlucky enough to catch a strain that it doesn't protect well against.

194 lbs this morning. I'm now back to work.

194 is well done taking the big C into account, imo

Thanks. I'm ok with it. Was worried it was going to be more.

Went for a second walk of 1.2 miles and hit the gym yesterday. Also got very drunk and weigh a very dehydrated 190 this morning.

It's the time of the year to summarize. How many days have there been since I started to go to the gym? 238. How many of those didn't I actually go? 64. So the math is telling us I hit the gym (238-64) / 238 = 73% of the days. That's less than the 85% I expected, but still five times a week on average. Main reasons for not attending have been travel and sickness, laziness not so much. From May 8 to September 16 it was one hour sessions, since then 30-34 minutes each time.

So this was the "warm up" year. Think I'll start reporting three months at a time and then the balance of the whole year. That's a new years resolution

So far gym 100% of the days . Have added some upper body, the shoulders will probably more or less permanently be aching a bit, not a total cure by resting them one month, but tested, and it was of some benefit especially in the beginning. But then got the feeling I trained even too little and that started to become painful in itself. The strategy is doing light upper body workout, the moves which are possible virtually painless. All in all wouldn't say the shoulder thing is a big deal as it is. You just don't think about it much.

Went to the gym last night. Short workout because I managed to catch a cold.

192 this morning and my waist was 38". Soon I will look like I'm only 6 months pregnant!

All very well, but I have had to get used to feel some hunger at times when I guess it's needed. The thing is a bit hunger isn't a bad feeling, more like interesting, better think so.

Gym last night. Still have the cold. I think, assuming my body can handle it, that I will do long hikes on Sundays, weight training Mondays and Thursdays and conditioning on Tuesdays and Fridays. I should also get at least 30 minutes of walking in every day.

Nice consistency on the weight, buddy.

I like your daily program. Thanks for the encouragement, eating home made buns en masse right now...my guess is I will eat less tomorrow, or then after the weighing in at Monday.
