Full mobility and warmup perhaps with an emphasis on calves/ankles (eg. wall ankle mobilization, rocking ankle mobilization).

Fwiw, I don't think AJ suggested you actually squeeze your calves during lifts.

I don't think you read the link or what either of us said. Could you cite where it says something about calves in it?

no, I did.

I think this is a pretty normal cue for a squat or deadlift. Squeeze the **** out of everything.

I can't imagine pulling a max deadlift with relaxed calves any more than with relaxed abs.

Lol. Well, it's a common PLing cue. Definitely seems to help with general tigtness and force transfer in a heavy pull.

I've never had cramping issues so I can't really comment there. Be careful! you may find out that you're already doing this and not realizing it. Keep me updated plz
