Jeez, I go on vacation and this whole place goes down. Not much to report on other than there must be something in the water in Northern Nevada that sapped my strength (what little I have left). I bombed out on push presses and front squats so I'm going to cycle back and do some higher rep sets (high reps for me is 5 ldo).

Today:

Push press: 95x5; 115x3; 135x3; 150x3; 160x3. I'm going to try to add 1 rep each workout until I get 5 reps on each of my 3 work sets. Then I'll up the weight and start over.

Front squat: 115x5; 135x3; 155x3; 175x3; 195x3. Just like with push presses I'm going to try to add 1 rep each workout until I can get 3 sets of 5 and then I'll increase the weight.

CG BP: 115x5; 135x3; 155x1; 175x1; 195x1; 205x1; 215x1; 220x1; 175x8. Had a spotter for 215 and 220. 220 was actually pretty easy. I definitely could have had 225. Even though I've been lifting for 40 years now (holy ****) you still need some things reinforced and having a good spotter is one of them. I'd never been a fan of getting a lift off but lately when I have a spotter I get a lift off and it seems to help.

Weight: 205. A little weird after 208 on Friday and considering what I ate this weekend. Same scale and same time of day as always. I'm going to actually try to get down below 200 within the next month or so. I just have to be disciplined.

Push press: 95x5; 115x3; 135x5; 150x5; 160x5. Last rep at 160 was harder than I expected. I barely got it. Doesn't bode well for moving up but I'll try 135x5; 150x5; 165x3 next time. Once (if?) I get 165x5 I'll bump them all up 5# and start at 3 reps across the board again.

Today:

Back pain so no gym. @#$%*^$! I felt fine after Friday's workout. My lower back started barking a little bit at work Friday night. Saturday there was a little pain but nothing major. Yesterday was fine. I was even thinking how there was no pain at all as I was showering before going out to dinner. Dinner was fine until I stood up to leave. WTF! I could barley straighten up. Pain was fairly intense. Got home and laid down. Felt fine when lying down. Lots of pain trying to get up. Woke up this morning with quite a bit of pain. Took some ibuprofen. Didn't help a whole lot. Minor pain when I'm sitting at my computer. Not painful to stand but painful to bend over or to the side. In the past I've only had pain like this related to a specific incident. It really sucks to just seemingly come out of nowhere. Based on my past back pain this feels like I'll be out a week if all goes well.

My back is still hurting a little but nowhere near as bad as earlier in the week. I also feel like I'm coming down with something (sore throat and coughing). That means it was time to go to the gym.

Weight: 206. It felt good just to get in the gym and do something even if it wasn't all that much. Next week will be a 2 day week since the gym will be closed on the 4th. I also have a vacation coming up towards the end of the month where I'll be gone for a week so I'll probably just try to get healthy and not push it too hard the rest of this month and start back again in earnest in August.
