That is actually the sickest of burns. How is your bench and press so far apart?

1) My press has always sucked

2) Are they? I mean, I benched 8x90 and pressed 7x55. That's press ~60% bench for a comparable number of reps.

If you look at everyone's favourite table...

http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLi...Standards.html

The intermediate standards for bench and press for a 198lb male is press = 67% bench. So whichever way you cut it, it's probably no bigger than a 10% deficit. Not really "so" far apart.

If you use the 1rm estimator on that site the deficit is probably slightly larger, but those 1rm estimators are pretty bogus imo (and even more so for higher numbers of reps).

Aaaaaaand given my recent lackluster lifting efforts, I wouldn't read much into any of the numbers I'm putting up. I really don't like lifting atm. Pretty proud of myself to string two sessions together this week actually.

Press and BP are always going to be seem to be far apart, esp if you bench correctly.

I probably don't then.

Well, I more or less know for a fact that I'm NOT benching correctly.
Or maybe it's better put "in a close to optimal manner" instead of correctly.

My press is ~72% of my bench, currently, FWIW.
But I'm a newbie.

I press 70% of bench roughly as well. Not so much of a newbie but not very strong either (I press more than Snitch atm but bench less, I have averaged 1 training session a week though for the last 6 months which probably explains why I ****ing suck).

Bang on 70% for me, using genuine 1RMs achieved in the last six weeks.

Here's a deadlift. Meh.

Didn't really get the gloots into it off the floor and back was not a block of granite, but at least it didn't move much.

So you are back to high bars?

Yeah we are going to Macau and possibly Singapore at the end of the year. But I doubt we ever make it to Australia. My sources were saying they don't like brown peoples in your country. But we do like beaches/wildlife a lot and my sister had a great time for her semester abroad (she was in Melbourne I think).

I actually don't know anything about your country. I can't even speak the language. Ran into some Aussies in Costa Rica and had no idea what the fack they were saying. Crocodile Dundee is about all I know. And my sister brought me koala bear or EUmee or some other weird creature beef jerky. I love beef jerky. But that shiet was nasty. Maybe it was kangaroo beef jerky. I think it was a sampler of all three.

Pump your breaks son. Crocodile dundee kangaroo beef eurome jerky is a national treasure.

Your kind of brown is fine. It's the actual browns we have a problem with.

And yes. Our beaches and animals are nice (and delicious). The biggest problem is it's a really f*cking long way from every other country in the world (except Tasmania I guess).

As for my squats. I dunno. Sometimes I HBBS, sometimes I LBBS, sometimes I CanditbroBBS. Actually, my HBBS is probably more like a CBBS.

you back playing? how's the season going?

tl;dr - Played the last three weeks in the lowest grade at first-five which is where I would like to play, but I'm not very good at it. Team is going badly overall.

Yep. Three full weeks without injury.

Personally my season is going "ok". Due to injuries to others, I've had the chance to start at first-five the last three weeks - which is ideally where I would like to play - but I'm not very good at it, although I'm slowly improving.

I would say defensively I've been great. Haven't missed a tackle I can think of, can't ask much more than that from a #10.

Game management and communication has been fairly good - everyone knows more or less what we are doing at any point in time.

Kicking has been average. No real mistakes (I can think of one penalty I didn't kick out on the full and one general play kick that I did not too bad across three games), but not super effective (not a lot of distance which is frustrating because it's always been a bit of a strength of mine).

Play-making has been questionable. Not many mistakes, but not setting the world alight. Last week I created two tries, but no real line breaks beyond that. This week I created two line breaks, but no tries... That said, our backline has been very disrupted. Myself and the fullback are probably the only two players who have played all three games in the last three weeks, so it's hard to get the timing/communication/etc going with a new group of players every week.

We've also had precious few opportunities in the backs with the ball in hand because overall the team isn't going well and imo it's mostly due to poor ball security at the break down (conceding lots of turn-overs - don't tell 'rugby' he'll just come in here with a rant about sh*t Australian forwards ) and conceding lots of ruck/maul penalties in both attack and defence...

Soooooooooooo... Overall I give myself a 5/10. I doubt I'll be able to hold my position once the "real" #10s come back.

Overall the team is 1 win and 6 losses iirc... so not good... but no real blow-outs and we've generally been in the contest. We've been losing by 1-12 points. This week was our worst loss of 29-0, but that really blew out with two late tries in the last 15 minutes.

/end rant

Side note: I've been playing 3rd grade (the lowest) the last three weeks. This week I came on late in the 2nd grade game on the wing (my traditional position) and made a bit of an impact. So that was nice. I get the feeling I could probably work my way back into the 2nd grade team as a winger, but given the choice I would keep playing #10 for 3rd grade ....and actually I was given this choice last week and chose #10.

The good news is that my OzTag team took down the open men's B-grade championship last week!
