I heard that legislation is about to change in Germany and i am thinking of heading over Berlin in September. I would not come if i can't play poker online, so i am wondering how things will turn out. Do u think poker (.com) will still be accessible for a long time or are we going to a situation like in France or Italy ?
As of right now playing online is illegal in Germany. Only one of 16 states wants to change the status quo and the party responsible lost the election recently.
The only glimmer of hope is that all the laws that prohibited internet poker were contrary to EU law but if done right there can be a prohibition that conforms with it.
There are no ISP blocks and no one has been prosecuted for playing online yet though.
Might be very expensive for SHW if the "potential SPD/Grüne and SSW coalition" take those 3 already applied license away . The current goverment has no plans to stop giving out those license until the new coalition is founded ( a couple days to weeks) wich will easily become far to costy . However , the new coalition will try hard to revoke those license .
So , chance to have legal onlinepoker in germany is way higher then we get our FTP money back imo
It doesnt make sense to think that a license given by SWH has any validity for other Bundesländer.
those license are to give a legal basis/regulation to companies to operate in germany . So if PS fe. legaly operates from SWH they are able to offer their service for the whole country .
Edit : Its quite confusing and Im not 100% sure if that is right ^^
Ill grind the interwebz
"If such providers hold a licence from Schleswig-Holstein they can, from a European law perspective, not be banned from online activities in the other 15 German Länder"
