175 when theres 170? uhhh
07-26-2017 , 04:09 PM
Watching an interview today with JBJ where he says the most he's ever received from the UFC for a fight was close to 7 million. That'd be the biggest publicly disclosed payday ever right?

One assumes 170 may be going away in favor of the two you mention.

From the article I'm not yet finished reading:

Quote:
The weight classes will be called super lightweight, super welterweight, super middleweight and cruiserweight, respectively. The current 170-pound division — welterweight — will remain in the Unified Rules.
and

Quote:
It’s important to note that promotions have no obligation to adopt any of these weight classes
07-26-2017 , 05:03 PM
Well that's dumb, why have 10 lb jumps, then 3 5 lb jumps, then some 20 lb jumps...
07-26-2017 , 05:08 PM
my guess is they will be deleting some weight classes
07-26-2017 , 05:11 PM
nobody actually gives a **** about the ABC, it's up to each jurisdiction to adopt those weight classes.

Why is icecube facing off with debo?

Praying DC doesn't get injured like every other AKA fighter.
07-27-2017 , 07:56 AM
I've got 50 cents that says this fight gets screwed up somehow within the next two and a half days. DC misses weight, Jones disappears on a bender, something.

ETA: Ooh, I know: Eyepoke DQ/NC, yeah, that's the ticket.

Saying it's not a factor flies in the face of use across all sports at the highest levels. It's just a ridic thing to posit. It aids in training, it aids in recovery, it aids in cardio, weight management and also strength. Thinking that the advantage of peds is you can hulk smash is narrow minded.
DC took part of Olympics twice. If you really believe he never touched a PED then I don't know what to tell you...

They all juice to some extent at the highest levels. It's pretty much mandatory and completely dumb not to.
07-27-2017 , 04:57 PM
they should just let everyone juice. seriously who gives a ****, no one who is anyone good in combat sports ISNT on some form of juice.

sure it could hurt their bodies when they are older, but they are getting paid millions for it.

problem will take care of itself in 10-20 years. juice will be antiquated compared altering the person's DNA.

sports will have to make a decision on whether to ban genetically altered players and they might at first, but once a generation goes by everyone will be genetically altered starting in the womb and then it's game on!
07-27-2017 , 05:07 PM
i just thought of something though. the genetically altered athlete could just also take juice. damnit
07-27-2017 , 05:32 PM
The juice is eternal.

I didn't say anything about D.C. taking or not taking steroids. What I was taking about in my post is solely that jones pre usada had an edge in his overall game that is likely diminished somewhat post usada--and I am not even saying vs D.C. specifically although I would bet D.C. Was clean for their fight before I'd bet jones was. Don't care tho.

Here's the thing, I am 100% for legalizing. I get why it isn't at this point but I think it is terribly irrational. I am not hand-wringing over cheating ass jones, I am saying that like many others who have had significant post usada slides we may see some of that with him as well. We have one fight to draw from and it didn't look good. It's just a factor.

Repeated concussions, ridiculous training regimens and dangerous weight-cuts are more damaging.

I mean we have two highly trained people who are actively trying to cause loss of consciousness through brain injury in a cage, but don't let them juice!!

There is little incentive to abuse steroids to the point that a pro bodybuilder would in mma, so the danger is negligible imo.

Too late to edit but to clarify more, the edge I am talking about is not jones pre-usada vs a non juicing opponent, it is pre-usada jones vs post-usada jones.
