i'm looking around for a shotgun now. being a snob i thought i was going to go for a Wingmaster, but the vast differences in cost have me considering a Mossberg 500 and the 870 Express. There is an 870 Express Super Magnum at the local fun shop, i'm heading over there in an hour to see how much he wants for it and what kind of condition it is in. They are $431 new.

looking for a HD/turkey/deer/trap gun all-in-one...

A Wingmaster is just an 870 with a better finish, better wood, etc. The Express has some rough edges around the operating parts, and so doesn't feel quite as smooth, but it goes bang just the same. There are TONS of used 870's and 1100's out there. Shop around and you should be able to find a deal eventually.

Would someone please give me a review of a Remington 11-87 Police with the pistol grip? I just got it and don't know much about it.

The one with the top-folding stock? Not a big fan of it. A friend of mine had one. The stock was very uncomfortable to use. He didn't like it either and sold it soon after getting it. Had no function problems with it though.

make sure the barrel takes chokes if this is the case

Not necessarily. The best turkey gun needs a different barrel length than a defense gun, turkey gun, deer gun, and trap gun. If he gets different barrels anyway, chokes are not needed. At least not on every barrel.

i was speaking more for the budget minded. for example, i looked at buying a different barrel for my mossberg 500. i bought the gun used for $200 and found barrels to be $150.

imo, might as well just get another gun.

the gun came with a mod. choke, which patterned way to spread for any trap, so i got a full choke for $20, and has made all the difference in being able to hit trap. if i get more into skeet, i think the mod will work, but i might end up getting a skeet or cylinder for another $20.

No, It doesn't have a folding stock. It just has a pistol grip along with the regular type looking stock. My dad gave it to me and I've shot shotguns and owned a few. Just no experience with this one.

My rifle shots were way off, but I was reasonably accurate with the .45. I was all over the place with the .22, though. Shot the handguns from 10 feet to 10 meters, while I shot the rifle at 20 meters. Something I'd definitely do again. My wife will never let me keep a gun in the house, though, so I probably won't be buying one. (we have a 7 year old, and my wife is paranoid about guns and kids).
Trade wife in on a new .45 handgun?

For those unfamiliar with this gun it is a self-defense revolver that fires all 45s or .410 shotgun shells/slugs. I will most likely purchase the 3" barrel model with a total length of 9.5". Too big for most concealed carry situations, but perfect for easy access leaving semi-shady casino parking lots with pockets full of cash. Gun is designed for close quarters effectiveness.

Looking to hear about experience with this firearm? I am wondering how shooting this would compare to shooting my S&W 640-1 loaded 140 grain .357 magnum rounds? How would it compare to the Desert Eagle .50? Went just last week to pick up the Mark XIX, but held off due to last minute reservations about the size of the gun. In addition to the expensive ammo and the ridiculous amount of kick the XIX presents, the sheer size of the grip hinders me from feeling able to handle that firearm proficiently.

For those with experience with one or all three firearms, please share your thoughts and feedback.
Did anyone ever gives thoughts on the Taurus Judge? Great thread.

fine if you want a 45 that isnt conventional. and a small shotshell to shoot a chipmunk with. seriously it is a compromise gun that looks and sounds cool but good for neither use.

Knowing nothing about guns other than what I learned in this thread, that's what I was concerned about. Thanks very much.

I'm thinking about picking one up to shoot copperheads. I think it'd be perfect for that.

poker will buy me one of these in summer I hope...laws are different here in Canada. I want to get a hunting/varmint to start...prolly a .22-250. Any suggestions? no R700. Kimber seems a little expensive...but i do want one of their 1911s

Why dont you want a 700? I had a 700VLS and it was great after I put a Jewell trigger on it.

Savage Model 12 LRPV or BVSS are good choices and you can rebarrel them in about two minutes which is nice.

I just use my buddies rifles now...I do not own one yet. We share 5 rifles between us and we have 2 R700s we use regularly. a .308 and a 7mm rem mag.

Just picked up a case of .223 Prvi Partizan 55gr for $380. Makes me sick that I'm ecstatic to find .223 for 38 cents a round.

Remington makes a few different types of 700, theres the SPS, VTR, VLS, ADL, BDL, etc. so it wouldnt look or even feel just like the ones your buddies own. I mean theres nothing wrong with other actions, but the 700 has the most aftermarket support.

Kimber handguns do not compare to their rifles. Their handgun line is just another 1911 clone, but their rifles have always been something special.

Couldn't find any local. Also, I'm assuming you mean regular wolf and not wolf gold, Prvi Partizan is supposedly the exact same thing as wolf gold, which is a higher end round.

Do you have any links for 32 cent wolf? I may actually pick up another case.
