Yea some companies make better quality products overall despite having warranties (but they do help obv) so you gotta do some research before getting a product.

i really do like monster products... the only thing i'd say is that the markup is too big and theyre usually pretty expensive. but if u buy headphones off their site, they give u monster bucks which seems like a really good deal

and fwiw i dont think just cuz u buy quality its gonna work 100% of the time. i've had bose headphones and monster headphones and they've both screwed up
Thing is pretty much no headphile would call Bose or Monster quality.

what's wrong with monster headphones? If you're talking about the physical part of the headphones i think they're fine. If you're talking about the sound of the headphones i think they're fine too. i'd bet that most people listen to .mp3 format of music anyways so ur not gonna get all the "quality" of the music anyways since all of the ends of the music are clipped off.

There are always gonna be more expensive headphones out there but for ~300$ i think these are absolutely fine... i dont thnik ur gonna find a better lookin headphone with some decent sound for that price

I'm tempted by the Sennheiser PXC 350 but they get contrasting reviews itt. I am no audiophile but like to think I can appreciate good sound. I'd want them so I don't hear the bass from music in the next room and ideally most people/engines on aeroplanes.
bump?

Yeah I was prolly looking for more advice that doesn't exist yet. I'm going to go ahead and pick up a pair

I would seriously consider IEMs. I dunno about noise cancelling stuff... I guess it works?

You get noise canceling pretty well from IEMs that have a good seal, basically an ear plug that plays music... you also get good isolation from a lot of closed full sized headphones.

I'd recommend Klipsch Image S4, only $80 and well regarded IEMs.

Got them yesterday, they are amazing for my needs (I like bass; techno/trance etc, sound reducing (I can't hear anything when they are on, and uber comfortable)

Ok I'm looking for a nice pair of earphones in the $120 range, anyone have any ideas?

thx but I already have some IEMs and the cable isn't long enough to use at my PC and I find them less comfortable
02-27-2010 , 09:27 PM
damn oldgrandma18k, who pissed in your coffee today?

the only thing I don't like about the headphones is that the chord is too long so if I get it professionally shortened, does that void the warranty?
02-27-2010 , 10:23 PM
Good question. If you don't want to risk it then just bundle up the cord to your desired length and use a rubber band or twist-tie to hold it.

Ok I changed my mind, I want a pair of IEMs in the price range of $80. Are those Klipsch s4 ones any good or can anyone recommend something else?
03-02-2010 , 01:39 AM
Just ordered some Sennheiser 595s. Will be plugging them in directly to my receiver when using them, should I still be buying an amp?

The S4s did not stay in my ears as is the case with many IEMs but the Shure with the foam tips are the only ones I've found that do stay in my ears.

"The low 50-ohm impedance rating of the HD595 make it a usable choice
for most portable audio players and computer-based listening applications,
but keep in mind its overall audio performance will definitely improve VERY
significantly when mated with any quality dedicated headphone amp."
