sumpy,

The UFC will not hold shows where there is no regulation.

Boston wants the UFC.

that simple, really.

Someone mentioned being more excited for WEC cards more than UFC Fight Nights...I'd even go so far as saying I'm more excited for some WEC cards than lower tier UFC PPVs.

From now on, lets avoid saying stuff like this out loud before they go and make WEC pay-per-view as well.

first i think it makes zero sense to lock the other thread and start a new one right after a big weekend of fights when there was a lot of ongoing discussion.

also the wec should be working really hard to sign a deal with abc or nbc - or even fox (probably a better fit). what a sick vehicle that would be - they could pimp upcoming ufc ppvs etc. the fact that they are on a network noone knows exists is ******ed.

Just watched the Penn-Sherk UFC. One of the best cards in recent memory imo. Not a single boring fight.

Also, if you get a chance to watch the WEC re-run, check out the hot azz cop running security by cage entrance during the Faber-Pulver pre-fight.

When is the next DREAM event?

Any big non-UFC events on the scheduled for June? (No need to know about UFC PPV schedules, spike TV takes care of that).

Yeah, to go from the Tamura (who I assumed they would have matched him up with if he hadn't gotten hurt) to Manhoef is LOL.

Please don't die, Saku.

I'm *really* looking forward to the DREAM event.

if hughes loses this weekend will he retire?
06-04-2008 , 03:41 PM
also, even in the 5th round urijah was sick fast. i know he'll probably never leave the WEC cause he's the man over there and will keep the belt for a looooong time but i'd love it if he put on some weight and moved over to the UFC

I could see him moving up to MW and taking on Anderson Silva.

He said somewhere that he would be definitely fighting Serra next, win or lose.

The only reason Hughes took this fight on such short notice was because Dana signed a contract with him saying win or lose, Hughes WILL get to fight Serra after this fight.

I think after Serra he retires, win or lose.
06-04-2008 , 05:49 PM
If Hughes beats the tar out of Alves (which I think he will), and then beats Serra, the money is too good for him to pass up one more HUGE fight. Either he moves up to fight Anderson Silva after his two wins, or if GSP has been overthrown, gets a title shot at whomever (assuming the two wins). He'd deserve it with two quality wins. If he doesn't win both, I'm guessing he retires.
