Barnett has done that several times IIRC. Landing right in mount has elements of both luck and skill. You can try to set up a throw to land that way, but it takes a little bit of luck to hit perfectly.

OK, I'm done MMA betting. Had three doubles on Silva, Jacare, and Mo. Another single on Jacare. THE **** MAAAAAAAN.

It's 6AM now, but apparently Ireland are playing USA in 30 minutes. Guess I'm just not going to bed tonight.

Barnett making guys look stupid.

HW: Fedor Nog Cro cop Barnett Couture. You can move Couture around if your a *** but this seems hard to debate
09-11-2011 , 01:44 AM
<3 you Cormier. He reminds me of the chicken in family guy
09-11-2011 , 01:48 AM
Fedor is goat heavyweight hahahah. **** your mother.

Way too many guys have looked great in non-UFC organizations only to be quite mediocre in the UFC for me to be convinced of this. I think Mir/Carwin types would be solid favorites over them for sure. Tbh I'm not even sold on Overeem just yet, and I may put a decent sized wager on Brock if the line stays the same(don't feel like tying up money by betting it so early).

both times it looked so smooth and planned

Hmmmm, interesting. To me the 2 key points to the fight were that and the transition from mount, where Kharitanov was defending decently, to having his back. I know you have to try to hip escape to get out of the mount, but if I were him I might've just tried to hang on for the round in that position after he saw how well he could defend from it. I mean, obviously try to escape, but definitely not at the expense of risking giving up his back.

.
We're kinda arguing a thin line but I will say that Barnett would and should be a fav over both Mir/Carwin. I agree Cormier would be dog to both but not huge. His upside trumps both though.
09-11-2011 , 03:18 AM
disagree
09-11-2011 , 03:49 AM
Cormier would **** Mir's world up so bad
09-11-2011 , 03:49 AM
yeah barnett is a real fighter guy. it only took 2 dominant positions to settle in the side choke and finish off this night

I'm rather amazed that Barnett is still winning, considering where a lot of the other HWs from his era are. Guy has a stellar record too, only losing to Nog, Crocop and Rizzo. Two of those Crocop loses weren't exactly fair either (injury, eye poke + fighting Nog on same night).
09-11-2011 , 04:17 AM
Cormier looked a lot bigger and stronger than I thought. Didn't surprise me at all Bigfoot couldn't **** w/ that.. All the reach=striking advantage guys are frantically rationalizing as I write

Have to hand it to him to be still pulling of the victories but he has had rather favorable matchups style wise.
I feel bad for him because even if he wins I don't think he gets another contract with Zuffa. You can't take the risk of him winning in the UFC with all the positive drug tests he has had.
I would like to see Bigfoot vs Mir. Hell, that card was absolutely fantastic but I'm ready for the end of strikeforce and these guys to be in the UFC across the board. I can't believe how dead the arena looked last night.

im a new 2 2 member and i making this my new home and i hope you guys welcome me with open arms, along with poker i am a big mma fan, already reading the news after seeing my first live fight in vegas at ufc 100 i was hooked, My thoughts lately about the ufc is im happy they got the fox deal, mixed martial arts is exciting to watch and for most of the people involved very respectful. Nick diaz didnt want to due what did he say "beauty pagent" ok, but when you sign a contract you have to fulfill your end, personally i like the fight with bj penn better, if you ever had the prilvedge of see a master like george perform you would understand not one man in his weight devision can hang... nick would have been outclassed and no matter who george fights, pure domination.. But now we at least get to him fight bj, who i personally think is going to stop nicks ufc dreams.. Also excited for the rampage fight, i really want to try to see more live events so im looking for other people who love this stuff, im trying to surround myself with people who may not have the same views as me but defintly the same interests..

ariel tweeted that he ballparked attendance at 1500 people.

...that's not a typo.

it was "the worst attended event he'd ever been to ufc/wec/sf/EXC etc.

card was wayy too good for that kind of schenanigans. but it definitely shows that it's a wrap, either you like ufc or watching other mma in america is going to be very difficult.

If Barnett wins he almost certainly gets at least one fight in the UFC. They want to be able to hype the SFHW GP winner against the UFC champion. Money pretty much overrides anything. But yea, if he loses either this fight or the next one there's a very good chance he's done.

your eally think they can send a guy like cormier or barnett vs JDS/cain?
09-11-2011 , 12:00 PM
Where do Ariel Helwani's interviews first get posted? I subscribe to his youtube channel and to MrPromoMMA and to the UFC's channel. I had assumed that postfight SF interviews would be online somewhere today, but I don't see them on any of those channels, and I'm clueless as to where else to look. Even with his UFC postfight interviews it seems like it takes forever for him to put them on his youtube, so I'm assuming that he works for a website that posts them right away, no?
09-11-2011 , 12:08 PM
he tweets like 4 times a minute so you can find most things there prob
09-11-2011 , 12:12 PM
ok thanks. i try to avoid twitter, but i'll check it out

They can and will. The winner of Overeem/Lesnar will get the next title shot. After that it will be one of those guys.
