My two favorites that have not been listed yet are Yoshida-Silva and BJ Penn-Gomi.

I thought this was sort of funny

THIS is funny

rofl @ Eddie Bravo patent

was going to wait until someone else posted all the stories but apparently you nukkas are just as lazy as me so

tito signs with affliction
claims to have record breaking deal
claims he will draw 500K
Jenna Jameson is preggo
Sherk vs. Griffin rumored for UFC90
Aleks most def has HepB and will never fight in America
08-06-2008 , 05:40 PM
If Aleks can't fight with Hep B, how the hell does Tito get to fight after banging a chick likely infested with Hep A-Z?
08-06-2008 , 05:53 PM
Just saw pineapple express and there is something very odd: a scene pans over to a TV screen showing a fight which appeared to be some sort of staged Liddell v Evans.
08-06-2008 , 05:54 PM
...And apparently minutes after I type that, Tito announces 'jk guys jk not really signed yet'

One day after he said he was.

I just watched the WEC card. Are they by far the most consistent mma organization or am I crazy?

i agree, they haven't put down a TON of cards yet, but i think i look forward to seeing WEC cards as much as UFC cards.

i'm also a huge faber fanboy so whatev.

WEC cards have been great. Hopefully they can keep putting together quality cards.

little gem to pass the time - http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...+gouveia&vt=lf

mentioned it in the betting thread after performify touched on it - am i the only one to think that ufc 87 is the worst card they've put on in a long time, or am i just being spoiled by recent very good cards in other promotions?

Wow. I don't see how anyone could say this. Do you think all the fights are going to be lopsided or something? GSP, Lesnar Gamburyan, Maia, Florian, Huerta and Herring are all relatively exciting and highly skilled fighters imo. The only two I didn't mention, Macdonald and Emerson are also entertaining for non-headline fighters.
08-07-2008 , 06:57 PM
i just don't care for much outside the top three fights. the gamburyan and maia fights just don't do anything for me. i hope they change my mind though
08-07-2008 , 07:11 PM
McDonald vs. Maia has potential to be a good fight. Watching Manny Gumburyan get his face caved in is always +EV.
08-07-2008 , 07:24 PM
This is actually one of the cards I'm looking most forward to, but that's probably b/c Lesnar and Maia are both in the top 10 of fighters I look forward to seeing. Maia has some insane jiu jitsu and Lesnar is a physical freak and I want to see him GnP Herring out in 2 min. or less. The KFlo and GSP matches should also be awesome, so that's 4 matches I'm reeeeeeealy looking forward to, whereas most cards have maybe 2 or 3.

"There's no guarantees that Florian and Huerta are going to get a title shot after this fight," White said of Saturday's lightweight bout. "It definitely puts them in the mix ... but definitely, if St. Pierre beats Fitch, it's looking like it'll be GSP (vs.) B.J. Penn."

For next affliction Trump should make a press release that he will bet anyone *insert insane amount of money" that they can't beat Fedor in a fight, i think this would get huge publicity, atleast by MMA standards and would help make the image that affliction had the best fighters in the world, if no-one takes the bet, they get huge publicity and are seen to have the best fighter in the world, if someone takes the bet it would be a huge PPV. Would be awesome if someone no-one knew took the bet and Zulu'd Fedor, signs with affliction and becomes by far the biggest PPV draw
08-07-2008 , 11:24 PM
you guys heard about Fedor and the real reason he the UFC didn't sign him ? Apparently it was ruled that locking someone in a cage with Fedor is illegal and inhumane.

I really disagree with Perfomify's view that the card isn't very interesting. I agree that most fights have clear winners, but I think myself and most other fans are still able to find enjoyment in that. The key is that the card features many likeable fighters. I'm excited to see GSP, Lesnar, Huerta, Florian, and Maia all on the same card, regardless of how their fights go.

I second that... I think the Huerta/Florian matchup is a really good one as we finally get to see if Huerta is for real.

I don't know how you can't be excited about Lesnar/Herring... Lesnar could become a dominant HW so it's just exciting to see if he has improved from what was a mostly impressive UFC debut. And Herring is talking about how focused he is and how he's in the best shape of his life, so he's definitely not gonna lay down for Brock.

Maia/MacDonald could have some fireworks especially if Maia has to trade punches if he can't secure some takedowns. Maia could be something special though so we have another good fight here.

Fitch most likely will be destroyed, but I'm always in awe of the elite doing their thing whether its GSP, Fedor, BJ, Spider, etc. It's still fun to watch.

I'm hoping the Gusmao/Jones fight makes the televised card because it could be an explosive fight as well.

All in all I'm excited for this card and think it'll be a good show!

Eh. I can understand where Perf is coming from. After the top 3 fights, it really drops off for me. I'm interested in seeing Maia again, but MacDonald is whatever. And while I'm excited to see Brock again, I really don't like watching Herring fight. So...yeah. I'd rather get UFC 84 again.

Brock is one of those guys that is just gonna dictate the pace no matter who he's fighting so I don't think it matters too much if his opponent is also exciting or boring, the fight will be fast paced. Brock will get a takedown within 30 seconds, and unless Herring can get a sweep or submission (which I doubt), he will probably be pounded out in round 1.

yeah seriously, when has heath herring ever shown an ability to survive punishment or escape from bad positions on the ground? i think even giving him credit for making it to the end of round 1 is a mistake though, he'll probably be tko'd about 1:30 into the fight
