Well this is just smart IMO. Drinking a cigar with coffee is a great pleasure to me as well. The tastes are very complementary.

Agreed. I know most people smoke cigars with a nice scotch, but a cigar and coffee out on my deck on Sunday morning is just perfect.

Hey guys, just had a couple of questions and was hoping to get some advice. Me and my friends started smoking underage so obv the smoke of choice was primetime and bullseye cigarillos. Even though I enjoy these, crushing a pack of 20 of them 3 nights a week or so when I'm drinking really takes a toll so I quit those, but I miss having the casual cigar. I was wondering what some good cigars are to get, preferably in the $5-$10/stick price range that would be good for someone who hasn't had a lot of experience, but would still knock me on my ass if I inhaled it, given that I don't get a buzz off of cigarettes or cigarillos anymore.

Thanks guys.

I'd go to cigarsinternational.com or some place like that and get a 10 cigar mild or medium sampler and find the one you like best.

Hey all
Can anyone suggest a cigar to me that falls along the lines of a La Gloria Cubana or something of that nature. Im new to this cigar thing and am trying to find my niche so to speak. I love just about all of the LCG's that I have had so far maybe not so much the R's. A buddy of mine said that they go better after a meal or with a glass of wine. I have yet to try a Rocky Patel although Ive heard good things about them. Im eager to try the Javas and maybe another ACID cigar as well cuz those are DIFFERENT!!!
Ive had a CAO La Traviata which is supposedly new or new to my local shop and it was mild and all around smooth smoke no alcohol needed.

Hey 1 more thing im having trouble with the refilling of this stupid butane lighter. The instructions that were given to me were to turn it towards minus sign, let excess air out and refill. Am I missing a step or something???

Which ACID cigar do you prefer or recommend? im looking on cigarsinternational.com now and having trouble deciding. I had my first ACID yesterday and i almost smoked my fingers off ya feel me?

even the better butane lighters go bad all the time so you never know. i never really need to turn it to the - though, just turn it over and push it on the nozzle and pump it a few times

Going to Canada next week and would like a recommendation of a good Cuban cigar to try. My tastes run more toward the maduro flavors but any Robusto recommendations that are particularly good would be welcomed as well. I will only be there for 2 nights so only likely to smoke one or two cigars max.

Also torpedoes are preferred and any smoke shop recommendations in Toronto would help as well.

Regards,
Greg

La Gloria Cubana, to me, is a pretty perfect spicy smoke. If you enjoy those, then you definitely need to try cigars by Padron.
Although people make a lot of noise about Padron 1926, I would personally suggest Padron 2000 or Padron 3000 (make sure that you do not get turned off with their rather rugged, blue-collar appearance). Both of them are robust smokes, with a lot of leathery, spicy flavors.
Cheers

Still looking for cuban recommendations. If nothing else I'll just buy a Cohiba or other standard brand but would love to know what smoke shop in Toronto is best and also what to try if its only going to be one or two tops.

I love me a Montecristo No.3 which is admittedly an unimaginative choice

I have tried a few CAO's that I didn't like much but the CAO Brazilia is one of my favs, great cigar.

If we're talking CAO's, the La Traviata is better than the Brazilia imo but both are solid cigars, especially for the price point.

I think its a pretty close call on that one. Have you tried the Traviata in a Maduro wrapper its awesome, thats really the extent of my Traviata experimenting. Have yet to try a Ecuador wrapper.

Trip report.

Went to a cool cigar shop in Toronto called Thomas Hinds Tobacconist. The guy I talked to was named Giuseppe and he recommended two great Partagas Habanos smokes. The first box he opened for me was a box of bolivars. I wanted a slightly longer smoke though so I decided on...

$33. Partagas Serie D No.3 Edicion Limitada 2006

At first I was wary of this cigar since I have been told that one of the ways fake cubans are pawned off is limited editions. Not many limited editions are produced. However all box emblems and duty stickers seemed legit. He claimed that it was a very very good smoke (2nd favorite in the store) and if I was only going to smoke one cuban this would be a good one.

Smoke was somewhat underwhelming but got much better in the second half of the cigar. To be fair I was smoking it kinda fast and probably did not give it enough time to breath. However it was as described, very full bodied and peppery. I also noted woody and leathery hints. It was also very strong.

$22 Partagas Presidente

The partagas presidente the attendant claimed was a perfecto cigar, but the review below claims it is a salamon shape. This one was by far my favorite of the two. It was smoother but still very much a robusto. It had more of a vanilla creamy taste. I didn't note the spicy nutmeg taste from the review. It was spectacular and had me dreaming of buying a full box for my humidor. Unfortunately I only smoked about 1/2 of the cigar due to time constraints but I hear that it also smokes very well in the final half. This may be where more of the spicy notes come out.

Overall my first two cuban cigars were a success but I would highly recommend the presidente. I am pleased that my research into legit cubans led me to find two that were likely not counterfeit and likely I will be looking for a similar partagas to the presidente for future smokes in the US. If anyone has any recommendations on this front it would be very appreciated.

I am a big fan of the La flora Double Ligaro's so I am really looking forward to the Brazillia as I am guessing it will be a similar taste profile.

Hey zero
I dont know how this will aid you in your recreational smoking but I usually grab a tall glass of Lipton Iced Tea while Im consuming my Brazillia it actually (for me) tends to bring out all of the undertoned characteristics! I know some ppl use a alcoholic beverage of some sorts. I find it really brings out the nutty aspect of it. Taste like I'm smoking PB which actually isnt pretty bad. I usually tend to smoke in the evening hours when I can get a cool breeze blowing my way
