RE: Pitchfork TV
There is also an interview/3 song session with Vampire Weekend that is pretty cool.

Pitchfork.tv is pretty sweet. A well-put-together site with good videos and music. Agree with you re: Thermals and Vampire Weekend completely.

I saw them live along with girl talk, M.I.A., Umphrey's McGee, and Lupe Fiasco

Their best song besides Walcott was one not on their album. And I usually dont like songs live if its only the first time I've heard it.

Saw She & Him last night at Webster Hall in NYC. Zooey Deschanel couldn't talk (she communicated with the audience through signs), but her singing voice wasn't terribly affected. She was definitely nervous on stage, but they played a pretty solid 50-minute set. They were backed by an acoustic guitar player, bassist and drummer.

I was disappointed they only played 1 M. Ward song (Magic Trick).

Here are some pics from Brooklyn Vegan.

Alright, these are my impressions from hearing 7/9 of the songs that will be on wolf parade's new album. Take it for what you will, as 5 of these are live versions under different names, so they could sound completely different.

As a huge spencer krug fan, I've been dumbstruck by the fact that I've enjoyed Dan Boeckner's songs much more, and suspect that unless krug's songs sound drastically different, this will be the case on the final version of the album. The only Krug song I've really enjoyed is California Dreamer, which, after a bunch of listens, is complete fire in my book. I think the song that's been circulating every indie blog, "Call it a ritual," is pretty much trash, and just listening to the intro will give you a clue that the album will have a different sound (which in general I'm not opposed to at all, look at the wonders it did for Animal Collective). I just hope Krug can recapture the urgent, aggressive vocal progressions that the first album featured, and not leave us wondering where the next "I'll believe in anything" is.
Anyways, while I had super high expectations before hearing any of these tracks, I have not been discouraged, just a bit thrown off. I still don't really have any idea how the final version will sound as a whole, but June 17th (or a leak) can't come soon enough.

P.S. it would be a huge D-Bag move for me to write this up without giving you guys the link to where I got the songs, so here you go:
http://www.deafindieelephants.com/20...3-live-tracks/

You can find non-live versions of California Dreamer and Call it a Ritual by just looking around a bit.

Oh yeah, and definitely listen to "Language City." It's awesome and I can't wait to hear a studio version.

Thrice's The Alchemy Index: Vols. III & IV came out last week (one album, two collections of six songs each based on the theme of earth/wind). I really like it, it took me awhile to get into Vols. I & II (fire/water) since it's kind of a departure from their previous stuff but I've decided I really like the direction they're going.

ok. well it turns out that ive actually listened to almost the entire new wolf parade album from downloading some live thing on soul seek called "pardon my blues." a lot of the songs were just under different titles. what's disappointing is that the two songs i like the most from the compilation (t"hings i don't know" and "cathedral bells") dont seem to be on the album.

the tracks are decent, im interested to see how some of them sound with better production, especially since i thought a few of the songs on apologies were done better on the ep.

Just got this album yesterday. WOW. Like you said, there's not anything particularly original about their sound, but the songs are just great. Highly recommended. "The Modern Leper" is one hell of an opener.

EDIT: I'm also addicted to the title track off Animal Collective's "Water Curses" EP. The entire EP is pretty good, actually.

aaaannnnd....fourthed. I was just coming here to rave about this album and was beat to it. It's a kick ass combo of 80's brit synth pop, disco, and electronica. All of the songs segue into the next one and echoes of Joy Division and New Order are heard throughout. A great summer record, nothing too heavy here. Already firmly planted in the rotation.

And how 'bout the new My Morning Jacket? If you decide to "preview" it, you're in for a surprise. I suspect there is a little unrest in the rabid MMJ fanworld right now. I like the album so far. I love it when bands take left turns. It worked for Radiohead and Wilco and it just might work for MMJ.

No Age "Nouns" sounds pretty awesome to me on the first couple of listens. My head is asploding with all this damn good music pouring through the interwebs.

finally some more rap to be excited about, Atmosphere released "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That **** Gold" last week and I'd say it's very arguably their best work to date.
