New Death From Above 1979, anyone? On Spotify now, seems really really good on first listen.

Wanna recommend Young L's latest mixtape MVP, it's free (and No DJ) here: http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes...ung-l-mvp.html

Great project which flows together really well. Also recommend going through all of iLoveMakonnen's stuff, hope he doesn't go too polished after he's been signed by Drake now. Down 4 So Long is my jam atm. Also the new Thug & Quan song bangs.

New Rural Alberta Advantage album will be officially released September 30. The few tracks I've listened to sound good. Hopefully it's a step up from Departing, which I found a letdown after Hometowns (which is an album I love to the point of near-obsession).

They play a couple of the new songs during this great live performance they linked on FB today

hehe yeah that hook is hard

i'm obviously into this kind of stuff but i don't see what's not to love about tuesday. catchy, quotable and great beat. will probably get super sick of it as it becomes more and more popular tho

Caught the National last night, first time I see them perform the new stuff. Was pretty good, although I'm glad I saw them when they were younger and more energetic. I guess most bands go that route. By album 5-6 you'll always get the more subdued version.

How are The National in general? A couple of friends of mine love them and have seen them live a handful of times in the last year. I heard a bit of their first album and was bored.

They're really, really good. Their first album wasn't great. Buy High Violet and listen all the way through it; its in my top 10 albums of all time (not saying my opinion is gospel but hey).

I also think High Violet is their best album. Its by no means a popular opinion though.

The music was good throughout, but the singer just sounded kind of bored himself in that first album. But my friends have pretty amazing taste in music, so I'm glad it probably just that first album.

Oh man treasure trove for your guys, including National fans. This is a repository of live sets of a bunch of bands. I've spotted about a dozen I'm into, some may be smaller local bands you know.

From there, feel free to post links to the ones you like. I'd recommend on any one I share, clicking the VBR Zip file, which is the MP3s in the correct order. I've listened to this:

1) The National @ House of Blues Dallas 2010

https://archive.org/details/national...9.ccm41.flac16

Flawless set, 21 songs and Owen Pallett helps out. I also happened to be there that night

2) A night I wasn't at, but man I wish I had. Beirut, this is simply jaw-dropping good.

I think I've listened to this version of "Postcards From italy" for like 30 mins straight. Just perfect.

I saw the national back in 07 I think and I came away impressed with their intensity live. It was a smaller venue though so idk if the intimate setting changed any of that

Ya that's basically over now, they got older and richer. He has a few moments now, but mostly those days are gone. Same with Arcade Fire and many other ones who could really blow the roof off.

Really makes me think that you have to support those newer younger acts to find that fire and witness it live.

Nothing is better then seeing an up-and-coming band who truly earns their fan base. Doesn't really happen anymore because of the internet.

I saw Pantera in a small crappy, then again in an arena about 18 months later, then headlining the same arena another year or so later. Never saw a band play harder then them.

Same here, I saw them in a small venue in maybe the same year in Philly (on a 1st date actually) and it remains one of the best shows i've been to. I've seen them 2x since, both in obviously huge venues, and its not even close to the same. Still though, can't help but be happy for them and its cool to kind of "grow up" with a band like that and see the progression.

New rich gang tape and the perfume genius album. Both really great imo. Also still listening to Lewis' Romantic Times.

The intro on rich gang tape is a must-listen, birdman with some vintage ****-talking followed by 4 minutes of thugger spazzing with just flows on flows on flows: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AYyPXq_y-oc
