My logic for thinking I should have shoved turn is that he could possibly call with a worse two pair, we should have a ton of fold equity and we still have decent equity when he calls with a J. What do you guys think?

Thanks

I doubt he will call with a worse two pair. Some might thinking you bluff, but vs. the overall NL5 FR population, you will screw yourself .

You will end up getting called with a J more often than with another two pair.

I'd totally agree that a jack calls more often than not but two pair could call some of the time right? But even if it doesn't and only a jack calls we still have 9 outs to the flush and 4 to the boat giving us about 26%. Throw in a little fold equity from the shove and preventing him from bluffing us on the river and I think it might have been a good play.

The problem I have with calling the turn is, when the river bricks with no heart he should really be bluffing a lot. I think I have to fold this on a river with no heart that didn't give me a boat. Yeah this is the micros so he probably won't be bluffing enough but I want to develop good balanced play for when I move up. So if he can bluff me off most of my river range and I have really good equity on the turn doesn't it make sense to shove? In game I went with folding any river that didn't improve my hand and shoving one that does. Maybe that was better but I'm not sure.

I prefer the call over shove on the turn. I just think your getting called way too often by hands that beat you to make it the most profitable option. That board is super scary and good hands that you beat are more likely to check/bluff catch IMO.

Curious why your not raising the flop here? This feels like a strong enough hand to want to build a pot with in position.

So what are you doing on the river if you call turn? If he bets it feels super gross to call or to fold. I'd personally be inclined to sigh fold. Which is why I think turn shove might be viable

The flop I think absolutely could be a raise. The reason I didn't was I felt I had a little too much showdown value while the pot was small plus a ton of outs to the near nuts but very little if the pot gets big. Also being in position, if I hit one of my outs I can build a pot. If I bet the flop I'm turning my hand into a bluff that can't triple barrel if I brick because I block so many of his hands that can call two streets and fold the river. Do you think this thinking is wrong?

When he bets river, you have a fold (unless you get an awesome price, but even then players tend to valuebet the straight very small). Players just don´t bluff those spots at NL5 enough.

When you shove turn your mostly getting called by hands that only beat you where calling somewhat disguises the strength of your hand and allows you to bluff catch.......sure you will lose some pots by a better hand, but that is better than forcing folds from weaker hands and only getting calls from better hands.
