Ruth Is Sleeping

I recently got ahold of Frank Zappa's entire discography (+1500 plus songs) and some of it, like this song, I just completely don't get at all. I'm somewhat of a musician and I like appreciate a lot of music, but seriously when I hear songs like this I totally don't get it.

I dunno maybe somebody can explain to me if this is musical genius or just utter nonsense.

I'm a big Zappa fan, but don't really like this style so much. I don't know if this is "musical genius" or not, but this is a composition--it's not just somebody noodling at a piano. Either you dig some of the experimental stuff or you don't. Some of it fails pretty hard, imo.

You must mean Civ phase III because this was from the Yellow Shark. I was pretty disappointed when Civ came out and have never listened to it much.

If you put out as much stuff as he did, and still had a vault of stuff as big as a house, you're bound to release a stinker or 2. This is one of the few Zappa songs I'm not too fond of.
