I rewatched this a few times and have gotten to the point where the inside of the mask looks like the inside of a mask.

If I just stare at it, the concave face rotates in the opposite direction.

With a bit of focus / eye movement / shape retention / peripheral attention, the paper thin mask retains its real shape.
