Sidenote, were all the landing mission maps in the game randomly (procedurally) generated?? I feel like I don't remember there being any two of the same crash sites.
Landing in some farm land, having the first couple dudes out of the jet throw some flares out into the darkness and post up behind the landing gear for cover.... so awesome.
I think it was an extremely fun game in spite of the AI..
You would routinely see aliens use up movement points and leave themselves out in the open.
The AI would rarely use rockets in an intelligent manner.
All the difficulty levels played exactly the same. Easy = Normal = Hard
The maps were generated with randomly placed predefined sets of tiles. All of a specific theme.
Thinking about the game reminded me of having to defend against base invasions. That was fun fun fun.
Also those knives were way overpowered in XCOM2. You could take out lobster men in one or two stabs.
